My friend heard me listening to metal....now she won't talk to me?

I'm at uni right now and I was in my room studying for an exam with Lamb Of God playing in the background (music helps me concentrate) and my friend came in to my room because we had plans that day to go out after our lectures had finished, she heard the song and was like "What is this garbage? Isn't it a bit early in the day for something this heavy?" Beforehand she never knew about what music I like because she never asked, and when she talks about Bieber...well I find that if you can't say anything nice, just don't say anything. I told her I liked it,and other rock/metal bands too, and she said that my taste "Wasn't feminine enough." and charged out and I can't get a hold of her. I asked her boyfriend if he knew what was going on and he said that she thinks girls who like metal weird or something like that, but she doesn't mind if he listens to it. She's 19 for Christ's sake, she should know better than to strop over someone's music taste right? Is it normal?

    It's not normal at all. Everyone is entitled to their own tastes in music and no single person has the right to tell you your taste is wrong because it's your ears, not theirs.

    Forget about her opinions. You could easily retaliate with attacks on her taste in music but don't bother lowering yourself to such an immature level. Just move on and keep enjoying the music you listen to.
