My food had to be in a certain order

Ok so when I eat the food always has to be in a certain order on the plate, it's like a clock face with vegetables at about 1o'clock, meat at 5o'clock and carbohydrates at about 9o'clock. I also have to eat it clockwise starting with the meat and I can't start the next piece of food until I've finished the one I'm eating completely.

I'd never really given it that much thought, until recently this was a sub-concious thing, it was only when someone pointed it out and I tried to stop, but it felt too weird and I had to re-arrange my plate to the way it normally is.

Is this normal?

I was thinking back to when I ate meat and my arrangement on the plate was pretty much the same, although meat at 7pm for me, carbs up at 10pm and salad or vegetables is always on the right hand side of the plate.

Do you have brothers and sisters? I ate my meat first because I do have them and meat was rare.

Yeah, but they're not the food stealing type, lol.

Want to swap them with mine? Mine are like locusts crossed with gannets crossed with sharks. :)

I think it's normal. I always eat my food in a certain order, too- in my case it's always eat the vegetables first, then the meat/protein, then the carbs for last. The carbs are my favorite, so I like to savor them; also, if I've eaten the "good" stuff first, I won't overindulge on the carbs (which I would eat exclusively if I could).

So you got a little OCD going on.. nothing's wrong with that. This way of eating is pretty healthy anyway!

I think it's more weird that someone noticed how you arranged your food on your plate.

Sounds normal to me. Although, I like to have a bit of everything on my fork when I eat.

I don't arrange my food on the plate, but I do rotate the plate to the easiest angle to eat the foods in a certain order.
I usually end with the best-tasting food. (Unless I know I won't finish, then I reverse the order)

  • It's actually proper table manners to have the meat at 6 o'clock on your plate.

As a child, I was always encouraged to eat the protein first because it was the most expensive part of the meal.

Its OCD, lots of people have it but i don't think most people care this much about how they eat.
