A few months ago my ex phoned me saying he wanted to have a strictly sexual relationship with me, meaning he wants to have sex with me but not any romance involved. I flat out refused but I thought it was a pretty good idea since he was really good at it. Is it normal?
Its normal for him to want it, but that doesn't mean its a good idea. Most likely, one of you will get emotionally involved at some point, and then things will get messy.
I think its normal to want to be with someone that's familiar. Sex with strangers seems like it would be scary.
Been there done that. Sometimes it works out really well. Sometimes it doesn't and is just plain weird.

And what happens when one of you wants "just sex" twice as often as the other. Kudos to you for (initially) refusing his suggestion though,,, it makes a change to reply to somebody who isn't prepared to be a total doormat to some undeserving narcissist.
I think it is pretty normal for exes to occasionally have sex with each other, depending on theirs feelings of course. I slept with exes though I have never really planned it out like that. I've always found the idea of formally planning it out over the phone or something to be a bit awkward.
