My emotions are inappropriate for the situation

I find that my emotions are often inappropriate for the situation at hand, for example, if someone says something that is dead serious or if I watch a video that is dead serious I will start giggling at least quietly if not laughing very hard because of it, I am not a sadist or anything it's just so weird, I don't know is it normal or not? Thanks

altough it is "almost" always normal, sometimes it can indicate a psychiatric disorder; i mean, not in your situation, but sometimes.

it's called nervous laughter. Many people laugh when they feel tense or too serious.

Sometimes I'm not tense or anxious, I just don't feel sad because someone else got hurt, killed, etc.

i had that problem when i was a kid it goes away if you continually try to stop and act appropriately or you could just continue (it's sometimes fun to brighten the mood during a serious time) :D

I've been trying to stop it for the longest time and I just can't. I'm 18 now and have had that problem for as long as I can remember and have tried to stop it for so long after I realized that I didn't feel upset about the same things as other people.

I'm kinda like this as well, I don't seem to be able to feel sad in really bad situations, for instance about 2 years ago one of my best friends past away and I haven't shed a tear or even felt sad, same with other family members etc that have passed away. Same with empathy towards victims of theft or illness etc etc, for me it's normal but I won't say that much in general

That happens sometime to me. I was visiting in the states for a bit and happened to be in a classroom while 9/11 happened and saw the TV and just blurted out laughing and yelled "look at what the plane did to that fucking building that motherfucker ASPLODED into a umpteenbillion pieces HA H- oh"
