My dreams foretell future events

Most nights i either do not have dreams, or i just do not remember them. But, i will occasionally have vivid dreams that when i wake up, i can recall ever last detail. Some dreams are really random and have people in them that i haven't seen or talked to in months. A week or two later i will either see that person, or an event will occur that is similar to that in my dream. Sometimes, it freaks me out because the event will be exactly the same as the dream and contain the same people involved. Does this happen to anyone else?

Um... no. I remember having these dreams too. I DID have them before. (I'm not the OP, but the assertion that it's "all in your head" annoyed me.)

What -is- true is that you're not describing deja vu. Deja vu is being in a situation or having an experience and getting a strong feeling that the same exact thing has happened to them before. You're describing dreaming about people, events, and such, and then those things actually happening a while later. I have the same thing happen to me, though much more precisely. I only dream random unimportant little snippets of life, but they're always VERY precise. For example, I've often dreamt myself typing some specific thing on some specific website (several sentences, and not just generic stuff) with someone else talking to me in the background saying something specific. And then that EXACT THING will happen some random period of time later.

What I think is happening is that your brain's time filter is glitching. Basically, time as we perceive it doesn't seem to exist -- it's most likely a neurological illusion. (And if you don't believe me, go look it up.) With that being the case, 'time' is a way to perceive and interact with reality without being overwhelmed by data as you would be if you tried to perceive reality all at once. ('Space' is the same kind of thing at a different axis. Kind of like X and Y axes on a graph. That's why they're often referred to together -- 'spacetime' -- because it's really the same function.)

When this happens, it's probably because your brain is sorting data (a lot of dreaming is your brain doing that, though not all) and it accidentally mis-sorts a snippet or two of data that were supposed to "happen later", so to speak. The error is corrected immediately, of course, so we only get a fleeting glance and it's almost never anything important.

    That's my best guess, anyway.

It happens to me a lot. My dreams take it a bit further. I dream when someone is going to die. It doesn't happen all the time. I can't predict everyone but it's happen 3 times so far. Consider yourself lucky you are not stuck with my situation. It's creepy.

A lot of people are saying it's Deja Vu. I'm also seeing this perception that "it's all in the head and never really happened". I'm going to go ahead and challenge that with one particular situation. I had been told MANY times that it's all in the head. Having done a lot of research over the years with dreaming, particularly my own, years ago I started typing out my dreams and printing them out. One in particular I had when I was 16. I wrote down every detail of the dream, even sketching out things I saw. It was a one story building, with red carpets, sitting stools, a small room, loud printing machines in each corner of the room, a gigantic safe to my left, and a locked door across the room that I was told I was not allowed in without a password. I'm taken into the gigantic safe and handed a tan box with supplies in it.

Two years later, I apply for a job (not going to give too many details). I do not get accepted the job, but someone contacts me about posting my resume across the city so that all the counties around can see it. I'm contacted by a bank, for which a group interview is required. I am asked to mark all the locations that suit me, so I mark all the ones I know. A week passes and I call all the locations with an update, to which each one replies "Sorry, we've already hired all we need". I go back to the list and look at one on a list of a couple hundred locations and I decide to call that one. The lady over the phone says that she's interviews many but hasn't chosen anyone yet and that I'm welcome to come in for an interview since I've done the group one. I go in, and apparently we had gone to the same high school (different years), she had relation to everything on my resume and hired me on the spot after getting along so easilly with me. She proceeded to take me to the back to introduce me to the staff. I noticed the red carpeting, sitting stools, a small break room, 3 loud printing and scanning machines, the big money safe to my left, a room across the room on my right where work was processed where I wasnt allowed in until they gave me the coded password. When they took me in the safe they handed me a tan money box to hold my money and supplies in.

Sorry for the super long story, but I've been writing down all my dreams that have a close connection to reality since then and they always happen years later; and when I tell you that they happen detail by detail, down to the scents around me and the colors, I'm not joking in the least bit.

I believe what's happening is that we don't truly realize the true potential of our brains. We don't really use it to its full capacity, and perhaps our brain sometimes processes information so efficiently that it can forsee events that will happen in the future based on whatever is currently happening in your life. Or maybe I'm wrong and it really just is premonitions coming to light. Either way, hoped this helped out at least a little bit.

It's called a profetic dream. Wether you believe in God or not he is telling you something I suggest writing them down when you wake up. And bring them to a pastor you might be surprised what you find out. I would also be happy to interpret them for you via email if you like. I do it alot
