My dad lies to my face

I am a 23 year old man living at home. When I take a shower, I sometimes leave the wet towel in my room and they collect before I wash them and put them back.
My dad told me to wash them, because they "were running low".
I checked the main linen closet, and saw there were many towels, which I told him.
He told me, that there were "no towels" in his bathroom's closet.
I then checked that closet and there were 5 towels, and 1 more drying in his bathroom.

I immediately went to him and this is the conversation we had.
Me -"There are 5 towels in your closet, and one hanging in your bathroom"
My dad-"ok"
Me -"Not 'none' like you said earlier"
My dad-"ok"

This happened days ago, and he hasn't apologized or said anything about it.

I'm asking if it's normal, but also what this says about the type of person he is

Parents will always lie to protect themselves just like any other creature. Its a survival instinct if they know they have done wrong. You cant change who a person is. But you can adapt to perceive when your dad is lying to you in the future and utilize the lying symptoms for the past aswell

Maybe he's not happy about you collecting moldy towels on your room?

    To give an update,
tonight I brought up that he had lied to me.
    His response was,
"When did you feel like I had lied to you?"
