My dad....

My dad was a good dad and I loved him...until I was 13. He then started REALLY bugging me to study. He also started hating my new intrests, like Police chases, Rock/rap music, and other things like that. He would really piss me off, too. We also argued alot. He said he was sick of his son doing "unproductive" activitys. What made my dad turn into a first-class jackass? Is it normal for a dad to suddenly change like this.

P.S. At the time, he was 49.

    It's normal for a parent to get piss off seeing his son wasting his time. He is thinking about your future.

    ThirTEEN - at this age it's usual that your parents become your enemies. ALl those hormones, all those change.

    You should not be so harsh against your father.

      But it was just so sudden. Me and him have oposite opinoins on everything, Politics (I'm Republican), music, gun rights, abortion
      (BOO PlannedParenthood!), and lots more. It was like he changed slowly in a week. I guess you're right.

    Lol your dad didn't change...you just hit puberty.
    I guess at this age most people go through a stage of not getting on with their parents.
    I don't have the same political views as my parents either but I learn to stay clear of that topic...

    This happend to me too with my grandpa (he was 50 then) but I've never known my dad so he was more like my father to me. When I turned 13 he started yelling at me everyday for not studying, listening to "bad" music (metal), supporting "wrong" things (I'm straight supporter of homosexuals), being atheist and mostly he yelled things like "If you're gonna spend your time playing stupid games you won't be accepted to any high school and you won't find a job and you'll be homeless!" It was really annoying so I stopped talking to him because whenever I asked him something he turned subject to these things.

      I don't agree with your homosexual rights support, but he SHOULD respect your opinoin. I repected my Dad's Democratic opinions, though he never really respected my Republican opinions.
