My cousin is gonna buy a $300,000 home iin?

He makes just $21,000 a year and wants to just move in, alone..I asked him if he had a lot saved up he said $50,000. Isn't $50,000 still too little for $300,000? I mean, even after he pays the $50,000.. he'll have $250,000 left to pay off.

Isn't that gonna cost like $2,000 or more per month to pay off and he has 2 cars, expensive cellphone plan, etc? *confused*

IIN? My friend doesn't think he'll go through with it, but I dunno, he sounds like he wants it.

dont you think this is something he needs to talk to his bank about? and if his bank says yes then whats the problem? are you jealous that your cousin is buying a house?

    • No, I'm just confused how he can afford it when I make more than him and I can't..

I mean if he wants to buy this house then let him do it, it might be kinda rough paying for it though, because of his income. But if your worried about it, then you could talk to him. Hope it works out for him.

My family is very different you see, if my cousin wanted to buy a $300,000 home I wouldn't care, same as if I did something, he wouldn't care. That's why I asked, why do you care? But sure, if you're worried about it, then you need to talk to him :-)

He cares because he's watching out for his cousin. It's Something families do.

Well that's for the banks to decide like previously posted. And well he's single, from what it sounds like. More than likely if hr does get it he'll see he can't meet ends meet and struggle/get renters. Unless he's making money on other ways? And like that he'll be able to afford it. More power to him if he does.

More importantly why do you care?

    • Uh, Why do you care to even bother asking why do I care? Exactly. Just a question, calm down.

so has the bank actually signed him up for the loan or is he just talking about it? but it does help having a deposit too. a lot of banks wont loan out money if you cant prove that you can save money and you are responsible with money. try talking with different banks and see which ones have the better options for your circumstances and ask what you need to do to be able to secure a loan.
