It's been years ago now, and my niece is in her 20's, but I recently found out that my sister's husband once gave their daughter a spanking with her pants pulled down. I don't know the specifics, but I was told by my mother recently that it was a huge issue at the time, as my niece told her mom about it and there was a lot of dialogue about why he would do this within their family.

I find this very disturbing. While I can't say that I've ever seen anything in him that would make me think he's a pedo other than that when he was 22 he would date 14 to 16 year olds prior to his marriage to my sis.

While I wasn't around her much at the time, I certainly noticed a marked difference in her personality. Her grades went from excellent to quite poor, and I noticed a come and go blank stare in her eye.

Guys, please don't sexualize this. I want to know if you think this could be innocent or if you, like me, find this disturbingly akin to molestation.

    I don't understand what you mean when you are asking us not to 'sexualize' this. From everything that you told us, it definitely sounds like it could have been sexual. What else are we supposed to think with that limited amount of information. Also, have you even read some of the posts on this site? Just saying...

    From an objective standpoint, at 15, yeah, she's probably too old to still be getting spanked. Especially, mind you, from a stepfather who isn't that much older than her from what I can gather. Furthermore, I feel like at that point in a child's life, you shouldn't have to administer discipline in the form of spankings anymore anyway.

      What I meant about the 'dont sexualize this' comment was that i don't want to hear people making weird comments about how they like being spanked and such like you hear on here so often. I want an honest answer. I'll edit that to make it more clear.

      In my mind, it's really inappropriate for a father to disrobe a young girl and spank her for a very minor thing she said while the two are alone together and not say anything to his wife about it. Just seems kinda creepy to me.

      Tbh, I never liked the guy. He's a very narcissistic jerk who likes to humiliate people and holds others to higher standards than he holds himself to. Maybe it's just my opinion of him that makes me think he had sick intentions when he did this, but I dunno. Seems weird to me.

    Having raised kids I completely get how challenging 15 year old daughters can be. Go back 3 or 4 generations and this would have been completely acceptable even at 15. But we live in a modern age where everybody feels so under threat from social services, most people will not do this because they are worried about the reprocussions. Doesn’t mean they don’t want to though. But everybody has a breaking point. There is no indication that this was a regular occurrence unless there are things you are not telling us. It seems most likely to me that she pushed him beyond his breaking point and he snapped.

    People can be to quick to judge, especially where stroppy teenagers are concerned. People these days like to condemn the adult but never want to address the provocation. You already told us her grades went right down around that time. What makes you so sure this was a result of what he did. It sounds to me more likely her grades going down, were a part of other behaviours that had come into play. The same behaviours that pushed her father to do what he did. An action he probably regretted the moment he calmed down.

    If I'm reading this right, it's his daughter. Not a step-daughter or anything like that. Parents that believe in spanking often do it bare bottomed. It could also be how he was raised.
    If she hasn't given any indication that something else happened, that may have been all it was.

    Now, if it was his step-daughter, it's kind of crossing a line.

    If he was 22 and dating 14-16 year olds then does that to his 15 year old daughter.....I'll let you connect the dots.

    You mentioned your cousins look became a blank stare and her grades slipped. I think he was giving her a lot more than a spanking.

    Wait... she's in her 20s and this happened years ago.. which means she was in her early 20s or nearly 20, and then she was something like 15, which means she was a child/tween when she had a child?????

          I think it's completely inappropriate for your brother in law to spank your 15 year old niece on the bare bottom! I mean we're not talking about an old time cartoon of a three year old getting a spanking, but a fifteen year old who is practically an adult physically, and is only a three years from being a legal adult. Why the fuck would a father go out of his way to discipline his nearly adult female child in a way that allows him see her bare behind and possibly even her private parts? WTF? Why would a father want to see his daughter like that, especially within the context of a so called "spanking".

    I think we don't have enough information for reaching a strong conclusion. But I would not exclude molesting from thr possibilities. I would try to find more information from the girl, since he will never reveal that, but she might do, if approached gently.

    I don’t know any father that would do this to a 15 yo daughter or a 15 yo daughter that would tolerate it for that matter.
    He probably would have been locked up and investigated if it was reported to the police, and that should tell you something.

      Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. I asked my mother why she didn't tell me or my brother about it at the time, and she said that everyone was afraid of what we would do. That told me a lot right there.
