My boyfriend smells horrible.

Okay so I've been dating my boyfriend for almost four months this Friday. He's really great but its nothing serious because I'm only a teenager. Anyway, he seriously smells like a sewer. I don't know if I should tell him or not. Everyone tells him but I feel like since I'm his girlfriend I shouldn't? I dont know if he knows himself that he smells bad or what? But I really can't handle it anymore. What should I do?

He might have a health condition. There's a condition that makes the person who has it smell horrible and sometimes the person in question is unaware of the smell. If I'm correct foods with high doses of choline causes it. Of course, there is the chance that something else is causing it. I suggest telling him the truth and making him see a doctor. In the mean time, ask him to wear some cologne.

It's not the choline, it's his colon.

I was thinking that he could be severely constipated, but smell wise, constipation only seems to effect the breath.

I once knew this girl who was a fraternal twin and she was severely constipated. Long story short, I ended up having to escort her to the toilet (it was the rule!) and she was in that stall for 3-5 hours. She stunk up the whole area and everyone complained and told me that she had to be constipated. O_0

You must really love him for having to put up with four months of that. I suggest that you talk to him about his problem and make him do something about it. If he really loves you he will do it for you. Thats all i got

Tell him to take a god damn shower once in a while. If he refuses, offer to take one with him. That will get him in there for sure!

For God's sake, tell him! You say other people tell him, so obviously he knows he has a problem and chooses not to do anything about it. Does he sleep with, or wallow on, a dog or live in a house where there are dogs? If so, that could be the problem. But regardless of the cause, tell him that unless he does something about the problem, you won't see him anymore. His stinking reflects badly on you because when the two of you are together, a stranger wouldn't always be able to tell which of you is the one who stinks.

does he smell after a proper shower?

Some people have like a gut-rot smell from having messed up bowels, a detox really helps. just look up colon cleansing and detox stuff.

If you tell him, hey I care about you...I think there might be something medically wrong with you...he may not get so embarrased

he may or may not be able to help the stank.

There are many different ways in which you can imply certain things, like buying him a nice deodorant or whatever. Much better than telling someone they stink!

You are doing him no favours by NOT telling him. Tact is the word, however. Careful how you raise the matter. Buy him some nice soap and deodorant? I wish you well with this.

Well sweetie.. Teenage boys can be quite fowl. I had brothers and they had friends that were the same. They were skater boys. For all of them to be cute boys they were always walking around funky. My little brothers room smelled like total butt and 5 day old sweaty socks. The smell would knock you out. It was horrible! They didn't wash their clothes or their sheets.. They were just nasty piggies. IF they did wash their clothes most of the time they smelled sour because what teenage boy knows how to wash clothes?? Oh.. But when the girls came over..lol.. I would feel sorry for some of them. You knew who was just a friend cause they didn't care.. But if it was that girl, it was a whole different story. Boys are can be just plain gross.

If I were you, and if you really like him.. Break it down gently. Nonchalantly lean over and act like you smell something slightly peculiar..and say.."Hey have you noticed if your clothes (.. Or hair, or breath etc) smell a little wierd?" NEVER make him feel bad about himself, but see what he says. If he says "yeah,".. Then that can open up the window to suggest he try a nice body wash that you smelled at Target, or suggest a new shampoo, or that he may want to wash his clothes again. You can also be silly in your approach.. And maybe joke a little with him.. But be careful, sometimes joking can come off insincere and even hurtful. You can even buy him a tiny bottle of cologne and say "I went shopping and I like/love this cologne, here, can were it when we're together".. And then kiss him.

It's BECAUSE your his girlfriend that you can tell him. Find the source of that smell, and crack the whip! Hint. It's probably his underpants.

You think he doesn't already know this? What good will come out of you telling him. I think you will only hurt him. Just keep it to yourself and love him for who he is. You can still have the best of hygiene and not smell good. Everyone has a different body chemistry. There is no need to judge.

Tell him, but do it nicely. I'm assuming/hoping you aren't doing anything sexual with him, because if you are, you'll likely get a bladder infection, or worse.

Get him some neem soap if you think his skin is oily and his skin flora is off. It could be yeast overgrowth. Also have him take a probiotic and maybe Metamucil if he has digestive issues.
