My boyfriend of over a year has never given me a gift, iin?

My boyfriend I have been together for one year and two months. In that time, he has never given me a gift of any sort, not even a card, except for my birthday last summer when he got me some flowers.I have gotten him several gifts throughout our relationship.

The thing is, he pays for me most of the time we go out to dinner or to bars, which I of course really appreciate. One reason for this is that he has a full time job and I am still a poor college student.

Also this past Christmas told me he had gotten me something, then it never materialized. I asked him about it a couple months later and he said getting me a gift "just didn't work out". BUT he was able to get a gift for his female roommate. Also I got nothing for Valentine's day or our anniversary.

The thing is, he's always telling me he loves me and we are considering moving in together, and he even says he wants us to get married someday. So I'm baffled and bothered, he wants to spend the rest of his life with me but can't be bothered to get me even a card on special occasions?

Am I being unreasonable, or is it weird that he's never given me a gift all this time? It bothers me. Is this normal behavior for a guy in a committed relationship?

    Not normal at all! He is using you for good times (going out and for sex.) I'm sorry but this is not good you really deserve better!

    I don't think it's normal. I personally loved to surprise my ex girlfriend with gifts. I had fun teasing her for Christmas gifts or birthday gifts, or any sorts for that matter. I guess I just prioritize the person I'm in love with and love to show it. I just don't get your boyfriend.

    what an ass, i had a ex boyfriend like that, i would buy him expensive gifts and he would make a big deal out of buying me a 20 dollar gift, he also never tipped waitresses when we went out to eat either and always split the bill and if it was not split he would make me pay for his half. he made more money than me too.

      I did mention this to him last week, so I'll just have to see if there is improvement. My birthday is in July, I'm going to drop some hints about what I'd like, and hopefully he'll come through for me.

    If he knows how you feel about it and still refuses to get you a gift: not normal. If he's just stupid and oblivious to how you feel about it: somewhat normal.

    The mature thing to do would be to discuss this with him, especially before you consider moving in with the guy.

    my boyfriend somewhat kinda like that but he NEVER bought me anything on special occasion. On new years day...he didnt even freakin call me @ all. I didnt get to see him till like 2 days b4 new years day thru jan 17.! That whole time..he says he was stayin @ his boss/best friend house. I know he was cause he called me from his friend's house phone a few time. On valentine's day he didnt get me shit but only a damn phone call..say happy valentine day i mean i gave him credit for that @ least ya know. Didnt get to see him till the very next day cause he had to "work". I bought him bday, xmas card thats mostly about it..lol.

    And wow kittenlittle that sounds like the worst boyfriend ever!!!! I had only one boyfriend that wouldn't pay for me when we went out. I dumped him right away!
