My biggest fear is being home alone with all the lights off...

My worst fear is being home alone with all the lights off. I panic about what could be outside my bedroom door(or any other room of my apartment) so much that im too afraid to go turn all of the lights on. Is this normal?

  • When I'm Home Alone I Leave Every Light On And Stay In One Room.

  • I actually have the opposite. I have to have all the lights off when I'm home alone. I don't want people to know I'm home..

  • i think great danes are too cute to be nasty (but i could be wrong) get yourself a bullhorn and from behind your locked door you can take some control back. if you hear a noise you can bellow like "Yes can I help you?" or "Bob call the police! Bob wake up!" or plain and simple "NO"
poor dog wont know whats going on but thats ok, any noise or suspicion you can use it. thats a good idea would have been handy when i used to be scared. good luck

Check this out too: This is the final fight scene from, "Enough", with Jennifer Lopez. You can watch the whole movie for free on YOU TUBE but, its cut up into like 15 Segments. Anyhoos.. Apparently, Jennifer's character was trained in Krav Maga...

The dark is the best thing, the more your in it the more you'll enjoy it.

Become nocturnal. After awhile the dark becomes a part of you. It becomes your domain. You come to trust it. You come to love it like a brother who "accidentally" keeps walking in on you in the shower.

    • Do this:

If you can keep a handgun in your home, get a Carry/Conceal permit and train for a Glock 26 with hollow points. This is a good, reliable gun with a lot of stopping power and its a small, concealable weapon.

Train in Krav Maga Self Defense. This is "the" scariest and most effective street fighting/martial arts defense technique out there for women...right down to gouging out eyes if necessary. Do this every chance you get. The more you master this skill, the more confident you will become that you can handle yourself in any close combat situation.

Have a professional home security consultant come to your home and give you a run down of your best options in the event of a home invasion or a surprise attack

Have your dog professionally trained to be an attack dog... If it is not possible to train him at his age, get another dog for security purposes.

Have your home secured by the aforementioned security consultant to make sure that you are protected from any joker that might try to gain access. You might also want to put motion detectors and alarms at certain access points to make sure that you are conscious and in a defensive posture should someone/something begin a beeline towards you. These alarms should also dial into your local police station if they are tripped so that help is automatically sent to you.

      Yah. That's about it...

When im in the dark I usually punch and kick the air in front of me until I come to a light switch, my dog, a family member, or a surprising wall.

Sorry, but you need to get over it. I'm sorry if you actually have found a stranger on the other side of a dark door but what are the chances of something like that happening twice? The more you let it control your life the more you feed your own paranoia.

Yup I can't be alone at night in a house. If I am then all the lights go on, the curtains get shut, and I stay in one room until someone comes home.

That's crazy! Haha. I'm sure your great dane would protect you if anything were to happen. :) Maybe just buy an LED nightlite for a couple rooms in the house? Or a solar powered one in case the electricity gets cut off.

Just keep your front and/or back door locked and you have nothing to worry about. If you don't already have a pet and the apartment allows for it, get one. (cat or dog preferably)

Maybe You Were Traumatized As A Young Lad.

Just have to face your fears.

    Invest in a flashlight?
