My best friends wife hates everyone

My best friends ended out friendship of 15 years. I was there for him through every hardship in his life. I introduced him to his wife.  I became ordained after their request.
I have been with my wife for 9 years and married 2. My wife and I have been supportive of every move they make.
A week ago my best friends wife made a Twitter rant about my wife and I. She took my anniversary post from Facebook and stated that "I'm a liar, and cheat on my wife" "she doesn't deserve to have me cause I'm a huge piece of shit"
I am so heartbroken. She attacked me and my family. The statements she made are false. Everyone saw this. People were texting me about what's wrong with her. My wife is sad about how and why she would ever do this because we have done nothing to them.
I simply texted my best friend saying "I love you and you are my brother. Why on earth would she say such hurtful things."
He said "she was just venting."
I got so angry with this that I called him "spineless" and "scared to stand up for himself."
He ended our relationship. I told him I'm not mad at him and will always be there for him no matter what.
All of our friends know about this and everyone is mad about it. If all of those accusations were true, why did he ask me to marry them!?
I'm heartbroken. All of our friends wishes he was with someone else. I don't know what to do now?

    There's really nothing you can do. As long as he's with this person you're out of a friendship and you should probably move on. None of this is right and I'm really sorry this happened to you.

    I've seen this before, my mother drove away most of my dad's friends, I dated a girl in college who most of my friends hated.

    I don't know why this happens but I've seen it many times, there not really anything you can do.

    Sounds like he won't stand up to his wife. If he left you while you're always being there for him that's sad. He needs to gethis wife under control, otherwise more people could be hurt by her actions. Totally immature of both of them

    She's a cunt bitch and he's pussywhipped. She'll probably end up divorcing him because she's not "haaaaaaaaaaaapppyyy" and stealing half of his stuff. And he probably won't learn until that happens - if at all.
