I have a friend who does not brush his teeth. Compared to this your friend is normal:)

Perhaps, she mainly takes baths in the bathtub? There are other options for bathing.

I think you're so right. I didn't mean to be rude i just mentioned how often i shower because we have the same type of hair and i wondered if it works the same way for both of us. Well she's a nice girl and she actually never smell bad...but her hair look somehow dirty sometimes and i just wondered if i should talk to her about it or not cause i dont want to be rude in any way. Of course its all about how clean you are no matter how often you shower.. i just want her to know my opinion as a friend because shes a pretty girl and i've been told that she looks dirty by other people.Thats all

    Thanks everyone for your comments:)

Just because you wash your hair one way doesn't mean it's the standard for cleanliness for everyone on the planet.

I knew a girl in college who acted like that. She was grossed out by a guy who said a regular bottle of shampoo lasted him 2 years. She felt that wasn't enough to keep hair clean... except she was being dumb. Her hair was very long and required a lot of product. HIS hair was barely a centimeter long.

And then there are dry shampoos. These are often powders or sprays you use without water. The product absorbs oil and then you brush it out. Those are great for when you can't access water, or if you have a hair type that will react badly (i.e. excessive curling) when wet.

Remember, it's not about how often you shower, but about how clean you are. Assuming that someone is dirty just because they don't follow your schedule can be rude... and incorrect.

Maybe she;s has a problem with dry skin but cleanliness is next to godliness and noone likes a funky ass in general or maybe she's depressed.

  • If you think thats bad someone in my college course has wore the same clothes for the whole course without change. He has very disgusting looking hair also and I think he hasnt washed his hair since he has been on the course either and we have been on the course for quite a few months now. He smells awful and another thing is one day it was raining and we had to do work outside the college and it was heavily raining and his hair didnt seem to look different at all thats how bad his hygien is.

Different people have different hair. People with curly or textured hair tend to have dry hair that CAN'T be washed everyday as shampoo is very drying.

Hair washing doesn't need to done much actually. If you were to leave your hair unwashed for about a month, then wash with warm water, it's unlikely you'd have to wash your hair for at least a few weeks. Similar things happen with natural hair wash techniques.
The dyes, chemicals, etc in commercial shampoos actually make the hair dirty, forcing us to wash as frequently as we do.

  • yes. shes just in tune with nature and natural things.
let it be. hair does not need to be washed unless you put it in mud. which i dont do very often. theres no need to put soap into the environment

Umm, you sound like a laugh.

To the poster. Not normal. Debate about hair washing aside (and for the record, I totally disagree that hair doesn't need washing that often, it's very absorbent of smells and the scalp also smells if it isn't washed enough) a shower onces a week is not enough. You would STINK, even if you deodorized the crap out of yourself. Tell her to bump it up to at least 2 or 3 times a week, that might be more manageable.
