My belly button stinks sometimes

So I've read a few threads on this, but I'm hoping for a better opinion.

My belly button stinks sometimes. It is off and on with me. I was without this problem for the past few months, but all of the sudden it is back. Here are the things I know.

-I bathe everyday, often twice a day, I wash everything with body wash.

-I'm about 20 lbs overweight although most people I know tell me I am not. I am very active, currently in boot camp 3x a week and play other sports.

-I've been exercising at least three times a week for the past 8 weeks, this just started two days ago.

-I have been eating a lot more carbs lately since I've been working out regularly. These come in the form of pasta, bread and even little things like adding sugar to coffee sometimes when I wasn't before. I've drank a lot of soda the past couple of days which I usually don't do.

-I normally just drink water and tea. Soda every now and then, and have had hardly any alcohol in the past few weeks (like 1 beer in 4 weeks)

The different threads on this have said different things. The most interesting one to me is about the high sugar diet. I know I've added a lot more sugar to my diet lately. Does anyone else have proven information on this?

No, I'm not a dirty person, in fact I'm very clean. This problem seriously bothers me.

I have a very deep belly button it will grt sweaty and stinky. This usually happens when I fail to give that area the care it needs. So you have to clean your belly button with soap and water and dry it every time you wash yourself. You can put deodorant or antiperspirant inside your belly button. This helps keep you belly button fresh and clean and odor free! Hope this helps!

It happens. Try using a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol after you shower to clean it in addition to your soap. It'll help clear out the dead skin cell, oil and what not. And the alcohol will help the water evaporate and prevent bacteria growth.

Loose some weight, and dry your bellybutton out with a hair dryer after you shower. Moisture creates the perfect environment for bacteria to proliferate, especially in your bellybutton.

Ha! Yes, I'm sure it's the belly button. I've done enough investigating to narrow it down to the belly button. I think there is some truth to the high simple sugar diet being a problem. Over the past 2 days I have tried to keep the sugar to a normal level and drink lots of water, no soda. Guess what? No more belly button stench!!!

Mine smells kinda like pus sometimes, usually only when there's lint, but I have had the occasional pus buildup as well.
