My 25 year old boyfriend watches game of thrones with his..

I've been dating this guy he's 25. We've been together a few months but friends for 2 years. We weren't close but we hung out sometimes then decided to date, grew closer but

Today I randomly found he is watching game of thrones with his 6 year old sister. I said how is that okay!?! We got in a big fight because I'm telling him that show is not only not for kids but not something you should watch with your 6 year old sister and he's telling me it's fine that I'm overreacting.

So I said I can't continue this relationship if I am with a man who thinks it's okay to expose a 6 year old child to game of thrones and he told me to go to hell.

Is any of this normal?

  • If you're gonna have a kid with him someday then you have a point in sharing your opinion

But if you knew y'all were just having fun I would say you were looking for a way to end it

Either way it's both of y'all's lives and if this is how you two choose to interact with y'all's environment and it happens to be incompatible with each other then it makes sense to break up

      I agree. I think that's a fair assessment.

But I simply couldn't imagine letting a child watch GOT, not for the excessive violence, or the incest, but what would get to me the worst, should my child pick it up, is the excruciatingly long name announcements.

It is I, your son, Vassily, tamer of dragons, lord of the realm, duster of counters, consumer of sandwiches, swiffer of sweepers, ice of cube, master of rap, under of wear, gap of jeans, toilet of paper, petter of puppies, swimmer of pools, jumper of rope, chicken of nuggets, peanut butter of jelly...

Omfg once they started that shit, I would beat them about the legs until someone called child services. That was literally the worst part of GOT. The ending was nothing in comparison to the waste of life I experienced hearing that 'mother of dragons, breaker of chains' shit

I'm fairly laid back about stuff like that but I wouldn't let me 6 year old watch Game of Thrones. It's a trashy show

Yeah. He's old enough to know not to let a six year old watch that. I agree with the call

That’s weird as fuck. I’d dump his ass. Also who tells their partner to go to hell? That’s a huge no. I would have ended it right there.

I enjoyed GOT, but I wouldn't be comfortable with my twelve-year-old daughter watching it.

But maybe that's because I'm ancient, and I have this stupid idea that she should be allowed to be a kid for as long as possible, and she should ease into all the weirdness of modern adulthood rather than being smacked in the face with it before she's sufficiently emotionally and intellectually developed to deal with it. But, hell, what the fuck do I know? Maybe what responsible parents should do these days is curate watch-lists of videos they approve of on PornHub for their kids. They'll inevitably be exposed to that stuff, and it might be a good idea for their introduction to be videos where the people are genuinely having fun and treating each other with some respect.

Anyway, I don't see anything unreasonable about you deciding that the guy has poor judgement about what children should be exposed to, and dumping him for that reason.

I agree with you 100 percent. Dump him.

What happens when they get to season 8? It’s child abuse.

My dad let me watch Suddenly Last Summer when I was a little kid.

Lmao when I was a kid I watched so many rated R movies but my parents usually told me to get out at like the "NSFW" parts (mostly horror flics and disaster movies)

Nooooo. What he does is *not* normal.

You shouldn't break up with him for that stupid reason.

    • I don't think it's a stupid reason though because he said any age can watch game of thrones and she's 6, he started her watching it and I want a partner that I know wouldn't allow our baby if we had one together in the future to watch x-rated tv or movies. He sees nothing wrong with it

Yes, 6 years old is too young for Game of Thrones.

But you have a broader problem here which is you, guys, and movies.
        Guys don't watch chick flicks.
If you watch football with a guy, he's probably mindless.
If you watch Cornholio reruns with a guy, he is probably underdeveloped.
If you watch Game of Thrones with a guy, at least he is capable of minimal thinking.

This is way too early for you to be thinking about babies. You are likely not ready for dating. Consider taking a relationship readiness class.

Telling someone go to hell is really uncalled for, he's exhibiting jerk like behavior.

You need to break up with him, first of all, him saying "go to hell" is bullshit. I wouldn't let my spouse say none of that shit to me.

But I'm not good at break up advice but just leave him if he treats you like that and shows his sister that kind of stuff.

    You are overreacting.

I’d tell you to shut the fuck up, telling me what to do cunty.

If this makes you uncomfortable (and I would agree with your assesment), get out of the relationship.

If you're casual, and you don't expect to have kids with him, and you're cool with the "well, she's not my kid" thing, then you can probably keep going, but if you're dating to find a life-mate, this is most certainly not the one.

Irresponsible around children and anger issues? Yeah, time to call it off. I wouldn’t let someone watch GOT until they were at least 13.

You massively over reacted. It's GOT, not Saw.

    • Lol are you serious? The first few episodes are incest, full nudity sex, beheadings and child abuse lol. The show is heavy in gore and sex.

You asked for opinions; it's just not a scary show. People get killed on tv and even child's video games all the time, and the sex is not full nude; it's not some porno. You see tits and a dick . It's just not tv that scars someone. The only thing that's really bad in it is the torture scene.
