Music makes me feel alive. why?

Usually, my emotions are neutral. I'm not happy, I'm not sad. I'm just okay. But when I listen to certain music, it is like a switch turns on, and I feel electrifyingly alive. The world is suddenly a dynamic place and I feel more aware of myself, my surroundings, and other people. I think with greater clarity and my emotions soar. When I don't listen to music, things just go back to being dull and lifeless. Is this normal?

Everything would be boring without music! I love listening to dramatic and fast-moving classical pieces. My imagination just starts SOARING.

That's totally normal, even unavoidable. And to answer poster KingLouisXVI, yes IT IS COMMON, everybody feels like that with music. Music makes us human.

That's good, music is supposed to make you feel that way.

Very normal. The whole purpose of music is to awaken certain feelings.

True music speaks to the soul. It is a language of its own.

Music does this to me as well, but I was always under the assumption that it wasn't normal to feel nothing without it.
I assumed my otherwise apathetic attitude toward life was due to depression and the fact that music puts me on such a high only ADDED to that theory.
I was thinking normal would be that you were more or less content in life regardless of how much music affected you.

I'm exactly the same way. It's normal, but I don't think it's common. I don't think that all people respond to music this way.
