Yeah, although not always. It depends. I'm never sure what effect music will have on me. Sometimes a song can make me ecstatic and other times the same song can have me in tears. It's not something you can really predict. Although, I do have "happy songs" in my music collection, which are more likely to boost my mood than other songs. Stuff like Mr Blue Sky by ELO, Don't Stop Me Now by Queen, and most stuff from either T.Rex or Talking Heads is bound to lift my mood, to name a few. Sometimes, though, something like the first verse of No Surprises by Radiohead is what makes me smile. It's hardly a happy song, though, is it?

Basically, sometimes. It's not a sure-fire way to boost my mood, and there isn't one song that is effective every single time. However, if happiness were a 1-10 scale, there have been moments where a song has had me going from a 3 right up to a 9. It's a wonderful thing.

Yes. But it can also worsen your mood depending upon the song.

Sure it's normal. Operation Ivy, Streetlight Manifesto, Catch-22, Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, No Doubt... really, any good ska punk can make me very happy very quickly. Good, uplifting trance makes me really happy too. Good post-rock and trip-hop can sometimes because they feel very literally escapist, like I can float out of myself when I listen to them. Then there are odd songs like 'Take On Me' by A-ha and 'Even Flow' by Pearl Jam that make me happy, even though Even Flow isn't a happy song at all, just catchy and intense. Then there is other music that makes me incredibly sad when I hear it, but happy afterwards for having got it out of my system.

you should have added a depends box since sad music ultimately makes one feel worse but upbeat music can bring one out of their 'mood'.

Sometimes it does but, it really depends on the type of music, who the artist is, the song, etc. If music could alter my current mood then by golly, I'd give it a kiss and mentally make love to it... Yes, I should probably go listen to Enigma. Make love to it in my dreams...

Music boosts my mood more than any other media form. I play honey by moby and nothing can bring me down but tracks like street spirit do the opposite and after listening to the album the hospice by the antlers i always feel emotional

It does boost my mood depending on how crummy I feel. But it also helps me focus better when I used to do homework and when I draw. :)
