Is it normal to be totally fascinated with a complete stranger you know nothing about.

Well there is this guy at my uni that I have never spoken to but some invisable force is pulling me to him (in non-sexual way). He is handsome but he has this creepy voice that shocks people into complete silence. He has an accent but that's not the issue it's he voice. The only thing I can describe it as is someone who has swallowed a rubber glove and is attempting to speak. Me and my friend call him rubber glove voice. He's a bit camp and carries designer bags with men in underwear around campus and make alot of hand gestures. people call him gay and my friend insults and it totally hurts me. I want to be his friend wheather he's gay or not. This week I found out he name which is a great break though. He looks like my ex especially from the back of the head i sit in seats with a good veiw to the back of his head. Is it normal to be fasinated with someone in a non-romantic way or am I crazy? how do I become friends with him? do you think he's gay?
