Motivation problem with freelance work

Hi,

I'm web developer freelance, for several years now, working from home.
Is it normal that I become demotivated, unfocused... when my girlfriend stays around me, not working ? She doesn't work so much, like 4 hours a day, sometimes not at all. She mainly stays in the apartment doing her stuffs, or on her computer just close to me.
I already had the same problem when I had a roomate in the apartment who was not working at all.

It just makes thing difficult for me to actually work when I have someone not working around me. Is it normal ? Same or would be the same for you ?

You're probably more focused on having to hold in your farts and not being able to pick your nose or scratch your balls and stuff when people are around, rather than paying attention to your work. That's my best guess.

well well well... it could be a good explanation if I would prefer to work totally alone ! But as I prefer to work with working people around me... :p

    I'd feel the same way.

I attribute it to the idea that if no one around me gives off any sense of urgency, I'm lulled into the same mode. xP Maybe it's just an excuse, though. It's believable to me! ._.

There is somemthing like that too, yes.
Are you the kind of people that are able to do something only when the deadline is very close ?

Unfortunately, no. Very easily discouraged under pressure, and I fold. It's hard for me to get any projects done. lol
