Mother cares more about horses than her family. iin?

Hi. I'm 19 years old. My mother is 49, and works as a teacher. She spends almost all of her free time (90%, not including sleep) in a stable far away with her two horses.

The rest of my family is now well aware of the fact that she cares a lot more about those horses than she cares about us, as she spends almost all her money on them and as much time as possible with them, while hardly anything with us.

Is this.. normal?

    It sounds like you need a mom. It sounds selfish on her part, but in a hidden way, like being a workaholic.

    Coming from a mother of 2 who also have to deal with me loving on my horses a little too much , I do see your point. I honestly think on her part , she has unconditional love towards your family and her horses ! Take a day ( over the phone or in person) and just talk with you mom about the situation , tell her how you're feeling.

    Alot of women are in love with horses usually starts as a young girl.i suggest you do a little research on it like i did you might be a little surprised at what you find.

    I absolutly loooove horses if I had one I would spend all my time with them too. To bad I live in a suberban area with no plase for a horse to go

    I don't see this as being anything other than absolutely normal. Perhaps that's because I'm the same. All my spare time and money goes into my horses. They're my passion, my hobby, my escapism from the grind of work and day to day life. However I am a single chick in my twenties with no dependents (other than horses and dogs). Growing up I always felt my mom loved the horses and dogs more than me, but she never did, it's just they represented exactly what mine represent to me. Horses aren't a pet, they're a lifestyle choice and it's not for everyone.

    Why don't you try and get involved with your mom and her horses once in a while?
