Most vegans/vegetarians are white iin

I don't personally know any who are. Is this because its a trendy club only white people are into, or are there in fact non-white people who don't eat meat? I worked with vegan products and almost all our customers were white, a few Asian.
The Hispanic side of my family eat meat at almost every meal. They laugh at the notion^
Please don't call this "racist" its just a question; if youre a non white veg Id like to hear from you. Im white/Hispanic and I am not strictly vegetarian.

I don't know any vegetarians who aren't white, but many exist. Vegetarianism is fairly common among Hindus, who aren't usually white.

    Not true.
    50 million Chinese are vegetarian.
    500 million Indians are vegetarians.
    10 million Taiwanese are vegetarian.

  • Where did you used to work? America? UK? A place where the majority of the population are white?

The likelihood of white people being the majority of anything in a place primarily populated by white people is extremely high, it doesn't mean that whites are more likely to be vegetarians due to their skin colour just that due to the population of whites being higher it's going to be likely most vegetarians you met are white.

What an ignorant and bigoted post. Do you think all those who are believers in Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism are white? These are 3 religions that are vegetarian, and I'm pretty certain that most of them are not white. Damn, you are the kind of person that makes me ashamed to admit I'm an American. You and George Dubya!

    • I fail to see how such an assessment could be considered ignorant or bigoted. It's an honest observation.

It's been said that a concern for animal welfare is an almost exclusively White Caucasoid trait, so I assume that's at least part of the answer.

Please tell me where and by whom, 'It's been said that a concern for animal welfare is an almost exclusively White Caucasoid trait'.
How can you defend such an ignorant and bigoted post? America is NOT the center of the world, nor are Americans the only human beings with moral principles. Long before the first white person stepped on the shores of the 'new world', Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism maintained that all life is sacred. Respect for life, be it animal or not is not a trait exclusive to white folk and it could probably be shown that white folk are responsible for the majority of the extinctions on this planet over the last 200 years or so, just so these very same white folk could make more money.

        • It was a position held by Dr. William Luther Pierce, for one. I consider it to have merit as it indeed seems as if Whites are the ones at the forefront of crusades of humanitarianism, environmentalism and animal rights. How often do you see Blacks risking life and limb to liberate defenseless animals from medical testing? The Japanese wouldn't dream of "saving the whales;" they'd rather eat them.

I'm defending the post in question because it's a personal observation; no more or less. If this person has noticed that most Vegans are White, then what could you possibly offer as a refutation for such a statement? "No, you HAVEN'T noticed that most vegans are White"?

Fair enough. I understand your view and respect it, though I can not agree.
Though I would joyfully slay any human that kills whales, I would not say that the Japanese were representative of all Orientals, just because they are all yellow.

  • And most rapists are black. What's your point? Its not whites who are vegans, its stuck up morons who are vegan. I am white and I for one want to punch anyone in the face who tells me they don't crave a big mac every now and again.

      • Its a figure of speech. Big mac, bacon, king steer burger, whatever. I don't know anybody who's right in the head who can tell me they never ever crave any of those deliciously meaty treats. Its unnatural.

      • I tend to agree, but when I think about it, some peoples' reasons for being vegetarian/vegan are completely retarded. Do they really think a few people boycotting meat eating is going to make the world a better place? Seriously.

really? I totally get where they are coming from, the way we breed and torture the animals on such a massive scale, and people are getting obese on this! be cool if animals were slaughtered by the person who was eating it, on smaller scale farms.

      • The way I see it, farm animals are there to be eaten. They are specifically bred to provide us with food, and I don't see anything wrong with me eating meat. Yes, its unfortunate how horribly some of them are treated. Does it mean me and a few other self righteous yuppies not eating meat is going to stop the cruelty cycle forever? Ofcourse not. I would love it if all farm animals were treated really well before being slaughtered but the truth is, its just too much time and money and it will never happen. I try my best to eat freerange chickens and eggs when I can, but its not as easy or affordable as everyone thinks.

i agree it isnt cheap. but its a sorry world we live in if people think the animals sould purpose is to provide us with food.

          • Ofcourse its not their ONLY purpose, but its probably their most important one. Plants provide oxygen and they serve as food for animals, and animals serve as food for us. This is the circle of life, and it seems kind of retarded to deny it just because farm animals are unfortunately, treated badly. I feel horrible for the animals, but depriving myself of meat isn't going to change how they are treated. Perhaps if it would, I would somehow refrain from eating meat, but I know it will never ever make a difference. I love animals, and I am extremely against things like hunting animals for a sport. I don't believe in killing animals for any other reason than what is absolutely nessecary, which is food.

You have a point. I've never noticed it before. The only minorities I know, who are vegetarians, are two relatives. Everyone else, seems to be Caucasian.

I live in a pretty diverse neighborhood and I see people of all races adopting the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. But most of them are those ones who try to be all "I'm better than you lowland apes who devour innocent lifes just for the five-second flavor".

Shhiit! I bet they sit in the darkest room of their homes chomping down on BBQ spare ribs everyday!

I won't assume you're racist since you seem serious.

Anyway, because most of the Vegans and vegetarians in your area are white you wonder if most of them anywhere else are white? Most of the vegans and vegetarians I've run into in my area were either African American or Hispanic, but I won't assume most of the vegans and vegetarians are. It really just depends on what area you live in, OP.

Nah, it's just they are the only ones who suffer from "white-guilt". They think by not eating meat they are absolving themselves of their sins! THE FOOLS!
