Missed period

Okay, so I was 17 days late and in the first week I did a pregnancy test and it came out negative and in the 18th day I was about to do another test when my period beat me to it, so I was wondering if there was a possibility that I might be pregnant just for being 17 days late.

As said already, periods can be late for a number of reasons. After about two weeks of missing a period, your preg test should be accurate. It's also possible to have been fertilized but to have had a very early miscarriage. That's the reason for false positives sometimes. It happens.

Just in case, test again in the morning next week.

  • The two main reasons for missed or late periods are pregnancy, and hormonal imbalances. You should consider going on the birth control pill to regulate your hormones and seing as you were concerned about pregnancy, it looks like you should be on some form of birth control anyway. The pill is the only type that regulates your period though. And no, I don't think it would be likely for a pregnancy test to show negative if you are 17 days late, especially if you did eventually get your period. Please do the responsible thing though and use birth control if you're not ready to have a child. And no, condoms don't count as birth control. They're nowhere near as accurately effective at preventing pregnancy as hormonal BC is. Besides, you don't wanna worry every month about pregnancy when your period decides to show up late do you? BC pills will fix that for you.

Could be a lot of things...iron levels, stress, weight, menopause (depending on age obviously), pregnancy...some people just have irregular periods.

False positives are relatively common for pregnancies, but only very early on. Eg: before you even miss your period, and your hormone levels are higher in the morning, so just to be sure you could always check then.

If you feel the need, you can always go to your doctor.

Periods can be late depending on your diet, stress level, and exercise routines.
