I’ve met SOME mexicans who have that smell. I don’t know how to describe it. But I know that that smell is only distinctive to mexicans. Their odor ranges from mild to severe, there are some who I just can’t bear to sit next to and some don’t have a smell at all. I know it’s mean to say it but I’m just being honest.
It's probably what they're eating. Like, some Indian people smell incredibly pungent. I was on a flight home as a child and a Indian family were seated behind us. Very unpleasant that was.... My mother would later say they smelt of tomato soup.
I agree, what you eat determines the smell of the sweat that comes out of your pores. That's why people from India have that distinctive smell, Mexicans have that certain smell, Chinese have a certain smell, etc. The op mentioned how sometimes Mexicans don't have that smell, they're probably the more Americans with Mexican features and ancestors, and they're probably usually just eating American food.
In my experience, white people seem to smell worse on average than Mexicans. It's always either the really trashy/lazy ones who don't shower often enough, or the sometimes older/decrepit ones who should probably have a caretaker or something. A little body odor is distasteful, but body odor (once it reaches that kind of magnitude) is just offensive.
Another example, I've heard the claim that Asians have no body odor due to the foods they eat.
Indian and bangladesh too. The're a lot in my country and the public transport like busses and trains are full of them. I ever smell it so I know how disturbing is.
