Met a guy, liked him, then found out he is 14...

First my boss introduces me to a handsome guy, I work in my college library, we hit it off right a way. throughout the day we keep running into each other and talking more and more.

Then that night we both go to a party at the school together, a dance party. he only dances for one song after I ask him too. then later we go off on our own and talk some more. I asked him his major at this point and he tells me he is only 14! he looks 20 and acts older. I'm 26.

We have talked on facebook and in text for the past week, and we get along. he is the kind of person that I could see myself being friends with.

The problem is I started to like him before I knew his age, and now I can't get him out of my head. I know I won't do anything sexually with him, I don't want to go to jail! but what can I do to get him to understand that we CAN'T do anything without hurting him or telling his parents and getting him in trouble?

    4 years of building a friendship wouldn't hurt. If he's still around then and your still interested go from there.

    The easiest thing to do would be to make clear boundaries with him: nothing romantic or physical.

    I know when I met my first long term boyfriend he was 14 and looked alot older, but i was 16 at the time. just be honest with yourself. you like him! and wish you could be with him.

    It's hard for me to believe you didn't realise this. My sister is 14 and so I do know loads of people and guys who are 14. Some look older ,but I don't think I'd ever think of them as 20 years old people. It's just impossible. The most of them are even short, they haven't really started growing.
    And well, you're 26, so you're almost twice his age. So I wouldn't do it. At least not now, it's crazy.
    And it's really hard to believe you can have a talk to him like if he was your age...

    I fell in love with 16 years old guy (i'm 25 by the way). I totally know how you feel. He looks older. How am I suppose to know he is 16. When my friends found out about it, I felt so embarassing. Even my boss being sarcastic about it.

    You could tell him that it IS illegal and you will not go to jail for him. That's reason enough, and it shouldn't hurt his feelings.

    Maybe you WANT to string him along because you're attracted to him and the possibility of something happening between you two excites you? I mean, it's taboo and illegal and "forbidden" and all that--so it's exciting to you. Have you considered that?

    At any rate: yeah, don't do anything with the guy.
