Men: how would you guys respond if..?

So let's say you are trying to get to know a girl and you invite her to hang out and stuff but then out of nowhere she tells you, "Just to make it clear...I just want to be friends.

How would you guys respond?

"I wasn't even planning on hooking up with you" 27
"That's fine; ill like to be friends" 42
"Lates. I got enough friends already" 21

Maybe after hanging out a few times, you'll end up changing your mind?

Well, if I was actually trying to hook up with her then I would accept her rejection. If I was not planning on trying to hook up with her then I might get a little offended and I would politely tell her to F**k off for being presumptuous like that.

Thats one thing that is starting to bug me lately.

People being presumptuous...I really HATE IT. Don't try to size me up when you have no idea...

I absolutely hate that too!!! People presume to know how I would react in a situation and try to put words in my mouth. Aaarrrgggghhhh!!

Yeah it bugs me too, but there is really not much you can do about it though.

If it were me in that moment, I would tell her "That's fine because you're not the type of girl I normally go after anyway." Then she'll probably ask "why not" out of curiosity, to which I would reply "no reason, you're just not my type". Then when she really presses me for the reason, I would shrug and say "I'm just not attracted to you, that's all." For an attractive (but perhaps a little insecure) woman used to guys throwing themselves at her, this may be an invitation for her to try to make you want her so she can feel validated. In this way, you may have a chance with her after all. Just a little female psychology. :)

Men hate being friended like that, if they're honest.

play slap her on the knee and say "girl you so crazy, I dont wanna be your boyfriend" and then ask her if she thinks some dude she knows is cute. this will mess her head up cause she wont know now if your gay or straight, and if she thinks your gay you still have a chance to see her naked someday.

You got your answer, move on!

I get the feeling you were not looking for a friend, but something more.

    Move on!

Really, it all depends on the context. I think mainly I'd just think that person was presumptuous and kind of close-minded, so I'd probably either just forget about them (if I was interested in them) or agree (if I wanted to be friends in the first place) and approach with caution.

Now mind you if I was really openly flirting, I'd definitely understand her saying that.

  • Respect her choice and stay friends and nothing more. If something happens after, it happens.
