Men: girls with anorexia ...

Would you ever enter a relationship with a girl who has anorexia (is very thin, struggles psychologically with food and weight)?

Let's assume you like her in all other ways - personality, lots in common, and she's naturally pretty.

No, I could never find her sexually attractive and that's that 30
No, her psychological problems would be too much for me 20
No, anorexics are all vain and attention-seeking 7
No, other reason (comment?) 1
Yes, if I still find everything else about her attractive 6
Yes, it wouldn't change my feelings; I'd want to support her 48
Yes, because I have a skinny fetish 7
Yes, other reason (comment?) 4
As long as she isn't too extreme-skinny 12

I was anorexic and I avoided relationships bc I thought I couldn't possibly benefit another person in my compromised state. But I think that was a bad choice. I was already alienated enough by my ghostly looks, and isolating myself just exacerbated my psychological issues.
Every anorexic has a different story, but every one also can be saved. If you know someone who is anorexic, know that ignoring the problem can be as bad as encouraging it. Confront him/her w:
    1. Four or more positives (I love you, you're smart, etc.)
    2. The big negative (But I'm worried about you bc I've noticed lately...)
    3. Why you want him/her to recover (I care about you so much, it hurts me, you have so many talents and such a bright future etc)
Last note: emphasize it's effect on YOU. At 85 lbs., I didn't give a shit about myself, but I was able to recover for the sake of my mom.
    I hope this helps someone.

Like a guy would even pick up on that? Most anorexics hide it pretty well and most aren't skin and bones. It would probably be too late by the time the guy discovers the anorexia.

  • I defnintely would. I'm bi. But I would support her and help her but if she didn't want to be help then that would be a big problem and I'd probably end up losing feelings for her.

Are you guys blind? It said if you liked EVERY other trait. Hell yeah I would, though I would definetly coax her out of her anorexia.

  • I would go out with her if she was a nice person, but I'd try and help her out of her disorder.

I like a woman to have self confidence, she would be lacking that, so no I couldnt be with her.

This is why the world is so cruel. Most people are selfish and self-sentered fools, They judge other people for their problems and think too highly of themselves. Jeez, show some empathy, stop being such a disgrace for the human race goddamnit. Theres people out there who need support but instead people laugh at them and say their crazy, whos the one thats crazy, the one thats laughing and judging the one in need of help or the one thats simply beggin for help?

People are too blind thesedays, they need to go through some shit to understand the value of happyness, My cousin who's(or was) mentally ill almost took her own life because no one supported her. Its a shame of how people can be to their fellow human just to feel almighty....

I aint gonna say im any better, ive done my shit aswell but yeah.. umm sorry for the random comment, I just felt heartbroken when I read these stuff so yeah... once again, sorry and i wish the best for all of ya! :O

Anorexia is a terrible illness both for the people who suffer and for the people who love them. I'd be lying if I said this wouldn't cross my mind.
