i don't know who came up with the idea that women have a natural inclination to be dependent upon a man who will provide for them.. it's not the case for most of us.

I love when people pay my bills. Not that I would ever date a woman, but let's say you meant "a partner".
Sure, if he makes a lot of money I can waste mine on more tattoos, bodybuilding supplements and books.
My wife doesmake more money than me, and pays the bulk of the bills. It wasn't always so, but I retired recently (semi-retired), and she's almost at the top of her profession, so she brings home the big bucks.
I do clean the house, and work on my property, so she has very little to do when she gets home. But, guys, you'd be surprised how horny wive's can be when they're "taken care of."
I often date men that make more than me but almost all are worth far less. It does sometimes cause problems.
