Memories don't feel real

Immediately after something happens, when I try to think about how it felt, it doesn't feel real. It feels like it didn't happen at all or like it was a dream.

It's particularly upsetting when something "emotional" (good or bad) happens... I want to feel it again in a memory, but I can't. It remains like that from that point onward. I can see it happening (sometimes just vaguely), but my reaction is "oh." and there's no emotion to it.

Does anyone else feel like that? Is it normal?

I'm actually relieved to read this. I thought I was the only one who ever felt this.

The world came into existence last Thursday. Chances are your memories never even happened.

I can't help but feel like that's basically how a memory works most of the time.
