Hey, I have just recently moved to a new town an don't know a soul. I can't start college until september and I don't want to randomly add people on a social networking website. I am a shy, straight 18 year old male. Any tips on making friends? I find it difficult to initiate conversations due to social anxiety. IIN? Thanks for any help given.

    umm... liquid courage, ahhh... social lubricant, fire water. Oh yeah! Its called alcohol. Use it at your discretion, preferably not around schools or churches.

    Man thats hard, im not great at that either. I rely on school and sports to find friends.

    One of the biggest and easiest ice breakers in the world is " Hi Im (your name) and I just moved here. Follow it up with a question, like what is there to do around here. Poof! You have an instant conversation starter. I think that the best place for you to start is at the gym. If you are too shy then you should start at the library or borders!

    Find clubs or activities in your area. A job is a great way to meet people too.
