My best friend is gorgeous and everytime im around her i feel like a potatoe and just feel ugly, fat and insecure around her. I haven't told her yet because she will start saying she is not and that I'm more pretty even though I know it's not true. Is it normal I'm jealous of her appearance?
You must remember that beauty is subjective. It all depends on how you look at it. For instance, I have been told very positive things about my facial looks. While, I however, beg to differ... "Beauty is in the eye of thee beholder."
Who knows, maybe you are prettier then her. You would never see it though because no one sees that about themselves. But that shouldn't matter. You guys are best friends, and you shouldnt feel the need to be jealous around her at any time
I've heard this plenty of times on this site and others, it's extremely common. Honestly you just have to sort of ignore it and try to feel comfortable in your own skin.
Normal. I had a bestfriend I met in 2nd grade who grew up to be very attractive to boys and men starting in our teenage years, while I was still just eh. I would feel less pretty all the time when we went out, plus she grew some big boobs and always wore cleavage showing shirts. It wasn't until I got a boyfriend that I became very jealous. I started to worry he would fall for her and I would always think he would rather her than me. She could get any guy she wanted. I was so damn insecure about her that when we stopped being friends, I actually felt relieved. Relieved because the 3 of us wouldn't have to hangout anymore, meaning, my bf couldn't look at her. I've got problems, man.
