Male nudity in a 1960 little girl's movie?

The 1960 movie is "Polyanna", a childrens' movie. The title character is Polyanna, a little girl, so it is aimed at the little girl audience primarily.

The movie opens, the very first shot in the movie, is of a little boy, completely naked.

I was suprised to see this. And I would like to get opinions both on the normality as well as the wisdom and appropriateness of this.

    Oh for goodness sake, you could only see the little boy's butt for like 2 seconds. Not even enough time for me to get hard, let alone beat off. You tease.

      Ha! But it's like one of the first big Disney movies targeted for little girls, and the very first shot is a naked boy! Doesn't seem odd?

    Is a little boy no biggie, Now if that would have been a little girl people would have been throwing fits left and right rantting on how wrong it was. Why can't we treat our children equally?.

    I remember seeing this movie when I was 10, and we didn't think anything about it. At that time boys all swam naked in ponds, and even at the "Y".

    There's a more recent cartoon which is very popular in France, Africa and other countries but in the US the cartoon cannot be broadcasted because of the nudity of the characters. It's Kirikou.

    I still haven't seen the shocking part of this cartoon.
