Making decisions, heart vs head!!

I'm facing a major decision right now that has logical and equally strong illogical pros and cons. This wrestling with myself over logic vs illogical (but valid) points is what's killing me!! When I say illogical, I mean they are largely 'feelings' based reasons. I try to make decisions based on logic and concrete reasoning but this is a case where I can't completely do that.

How do you decide when your heart conflicts with your brain in a major life decision?

Do you find some decisions hard to make when you're fighting reason vs feelings? IIN?

Well it depends on the situation. When it comes to romance, I'd follow my heart, because it's an emotional situation where logic isn't really relevent. In most other situations, I'd follow my head.

It's like rock paper scissors. Morals beat logic, logic beats emotion, and emotion beats morals.

  • Don't make promises when you are happy; don't make decisions when you are mad.

"Sentiment is a chemical defect found in the losing side"
"I've always assumed love was a dangerous disadvantage"

After many a year on this planet I'm afraid I have to side with the above quotes.

For us to be more clear we would have to know what the issue at hand is.

Nevertheless, following your heart on time should be a good decision. I am saying on time because I was too late. That is why my heart if stuffed up and I am confused.

Anyway, I follow my head much more these days after what happened. As your major decision could be anything, I don't know. It trully depends on many factors.

  • Emotion tends to impair logic.

good man! even if the logic is flawed, you still spend time analyzing options and alternatives which still makes it better than just act on impulsive idiocy.

  • Logic is always more better than emotion. Perhaps use your logic to make a path that would ensure your emotional side being more fufilled in the future? Without logic, emotions are blind and can ruin your life. Without emotion, logic can make you ruin everyone elses life.

Understand emotion due to logic, it's what I done.

I agree but I do think logic should be valued over emotions in general but otherwise it depends on the situation and you should see what is more important for the decision you need to make...

And please ItDuz... "more better" causes me eye cancer even though I know my grammar isn't perfect either...

      • Yeah, true, more better isn't exactly right for what I said. Although, it can't be always wrong.

Imagine you are are looking at a packet of eggs, there is four in a pack. You then see one with six eggs in them, and they are 30p more. Then there is a packet of eight eggs for 40p. You originally thought of getting the pack of four, but you noticed another pack for a better deal, then found one that was more better than the one that was originally better than the pack of six eggs.

        I think that makes sense.

        • No, it's always absolutely, positively incorrect to say 'more better'. What you'd say in that case would be 'this one is even better', 'much better' or just 'better', or 'this one is the best'.

Thanks for your post, by the way! It makes sense.

You head kinda...controls everything since the heart is powered by the brain and all the heart does is create, clean, and pump blood throughout the body :/

    Head wins. Always.

I will never subject myself to the weakness of letting my emotions cloud my judgement.

I followed my heart and it's not exactly working out. It was a major decision and I dk...I would just be unhappy if I didn't try it out. Whatever you do, hopefully it's not something where you are absolutely locked in.

It all depends on what you are willing to sacrifice. The heart and the brain like to argue. But it isn't a competition. Just try to find a balance between what you feel, and what you think. There is no magic answer. Whatever you decide, just trust it is the right answer for you.
