I assume America by default, can't help it, probably because most users I'd be interested in meeting are :\
I've noticed a general trend on the internet, so I'm sure it's no different here: Americans tend to assume other people are Americans, the rest of the world tends not to make assumptions about other people's nationality.
I'm Canadian and I don't really think about nationality until it's stated or if they're obviously not an anglophone. I guess it's because I don't really care if you're American, British, Kiwi, etc. I don't really have any curiosity anymore about people from other English-speaking cultures. There are no borders on the net, and I've found we're really pretty similar as Western English speakers. Maybe it's easier to be jaded in this way as Canadians because we're already used to being halfway between American and British cultures.
I am a 25 year old Canadian male but I suppose I do assume most on here are A) American and B) older than me always unless stated other wise of course ... xD not sure why I assume this? IIN? LOL
I'm your age, but I assume most people will be younger than me, because most people who do give their age are usually around 18-20.
Not really, America is like a super country for the west(In terms of population.) There are more Americans that speak English than Canada and all of Europe, Australia combined.
But like I said, I've met and meet people from almost all first world and some second and third world countries and I'm American.
Since I'm like the only German on here, I never assume that someone is from the same country as me.
No, not on the internet. I've talked to too many people from Canada The UK, Russia(Surprisingly) Australia, Mexico, Ireland, Brazil etc.
The majority of non Americans Ive talk to or do talk to are UK and Canada I think, and there are plenty of them, especially combined. So I don't assume anymore.
When it was still AOL with an annoying dial up modem I thought it was all Americans.
I also assume most users are Americans and for some reason, male. I have been caught out on them both, but when I see a screen name that isn't gender specific, I still automatically assume guy.
