I do the same, i read the 1 st bit and if its funny or interesting i will carry on if not i skip it and vote same as what i do with comments read the short ones

Sometimes people write longer stories because they want to make sure their audience has the most information possible so their readers can accurately make a judgment and give helpful advice.

Although, some people don't seem to understand what information is essential to their story & what's not, but not everyone is good at telling a story, are they.
