So, we live in North Dakota(me&my friend) one thing that really tickles my flounder is when people think we ride around on horses. WE HAVE TECHNOLOGY HERE! stop telling us we have weird accents when the only difference is that we will prononce our "A"s different. Oh yeah and we do NOT hangout at wal-mart for fun...for some reason everyone thinks this. Is it normal that i get so pissed when people say this about North Dakota?

    I know how you feel. I 'speak really good english for growing up I New Mexico', which was was hard, since I spent most of my time fighting Indians & trying not to get scalped.... What makes me mad is when I go to a bar in some other state, order a Corona & I don't get a lime. That sucks man!

    There's walmarts in North Dakota? Where would they find employees? Other states? Ridiculous.

      Funny stuff.
      I was born in North Dakota and grew up in Minnesota and I heard it all the time. The worst is when someone would ask me where I lived. I'd tell them Minnesota and they would IMMEDIATELY say it back to me in that stereotypical, heavy, northern accent and then giggle to themselves like they'd just thought of the cleverest joke ever. It got to the point where after they did that I'd just stop to stare blankly at them and say "That's funny...considering I sounded nothing like that...".

    i understand getting pissed, im from wisconsin, i went to indiana and was asked several times if i had a cow in my yard, or was told wow you are really smart for being from wisconsin. ironically though i do occasionally get drunk and go hang at the walmart and play with the toys :P

    lol they probably say it as a joke, but if you get bothered by it you should tell them.. i'm from California and me and my friends make jokes about people in other states sometimes, but its only playing around. i've never heard stereotypes about kids in California though =\ if you know of some, please tell me =) i want to know x)

    Well I used to live in North Dakota and can attest to the fact that there is actually civilization there! I am from Texas and live there now and people always think the same things about Texas and that we are all racist rednecks. Stereotypes are everywhere and you just have to know people that stereotype are ignorant and don't succumb to the stereotypes and people will notice that as well.

    Well, I never heard that people from North Dakota hung out at WalMart for fun. I can see how it would be annoying but don't let stereotypes get to you. Those who employ them are just ignorant.
