Liking someone 20 years older

I'm your typical college student, I do my work and hang out with friends in my spare time. I'm mature and often find the company of people older than me to be more stimulating and comfortable than that of people in my age group. The only difference between my and my friends is my taste in men. I happen to be attracted to an older man, one of my professors none the less. Just for reference I'm 21 and he just turned 40. No he is not married or in a relationship, and from my limited knowledge is not well versed in the area or is very cautious about it. He's handsome and we have many things in common, and have an easy time talking to each other, but I don't know if that means anything. My friends are supportive, but I obviously have no way to approach the subject besides day dreaming.I have been raised to think certain things are considered inappropriate, but age difference was never one of them. Is this normal, and should I expect anything from it? Please people be nice. I know plenty of you have strong opinions, but I don't need to be ridiculed for it. Thanks! :)

Personally I don't see anything wrong with it. you are an adult and it's not like you are a minor fancying a school teacher. Age gaps are irrelevant as long as no one is underage.

That's kind of weird. There are tons of interesting and mature people that are your own age, they just don't hang out at the places you probably frequent. The whole attraction to older men thing screams daddy issues. Did you have a good relationship with your dad? Was he not around or did he not hug you enough?

It's normal and it's nice that your friends are supportive of your feelings. I once was infatuated with a 39 year old woman and I was unfortunately ridiculed by one of my friends for it:/

Love is blind to age, so if he is really who you are attracted to, then seek him out. He will most likely enjoy the attention at, and that would be the worst result. If better than that, who knows where it might lead for a future for you two. Many men seek younger women for future companions and lovers.

I could make all sorts of joke about that here, but in all honesty, if you both like each other, then it should all work out.

Seems alright to me but don't jeopardize your student-teacher relationship. If you do anything about your feelings wait until you aren't in his class anymore.
