Lets discuss toast bread!

Isn't toast delicious? There's so many varieties of bread in so many sizes and thicknesses. On some days I like my toast super thin and light. On other days I like thick, dark pieces of toast. Toast is so wonderful! So how do you like your toast?

I am not a fan of toast. I don't understand taking a perfectly soft piece of bread and turning it into a rock. Toast was largely a breakfast food because people used to bake fresh bread for their dinner, but leftover bread would be stale the next day. Toasting is a trick used to make bread which is slightly stale eatable. So they would toast the bread the next morning with breakfast so they could eat it rather than throw it away.

But today, most people don't bake fresh bread every night, and most bread sold today does not go stale the next day. Today, people are just taking soft bread and making it hard. If you do bake a lot of fresh bread, or buy a lot of bakery fresh bread that does start to go stale the next morning, by all means, toast away! But don't hurt poor innocent soft bread, it did nothing to you.

I don't know about ya'll, but I don't toast my bread slices to the point of being hard as a rock.

I'm not more than one person, so not sure why you called me y'all, but regardless of how much you toast your bread, I'm sure it is less soft than it was when you started. It's cool, it's your bread, toast it all you want. I'm just saying for me personally, I think bread should be soft. Toasting was designed as a way to save stale bread, not ruin fresh bread. But if you prefer harder bread to softer bread, toast away and enjoy!

For me, every sandwich tastes 10x better lightly toasted. Especially rye bread. Rye is actually awful not toasted.

Toast is trash, garbage food but I'll play along

Toast with mashed avocado, bacon, salted tomato and whole grain mustard mixed with balsamic vinegar

Bruschetta toast rubbed with garlic, fresh basil only

Whole grain toast with pb, banana, almonds, and raisins

Toast with Mayo mixed with sriracha, pickled veggies, and Turkey, and cilantro

Toast with butter and strawberry preserves

Toast with chipotle pesto and melted mozerella

Toast with sugar, cinnamon and butter...or cream cheese cinnamon and sugar (tastes like cheesecake)

Plain old sourdough toast with stew.

My bf eats toast with curried eggs and pb

    Fuck you, toast :)

I like my toast from the oven, not the toaster. I take a few slices of bread and let them sit under the broiler for a moment or two. It really doesn't take long. Turn away for a second and you've burned your toast to a crisp. But I like it this way because I can add toppings that I can't add in a toaster. Try melting cheese on your toast with a toaster!

This is how my mother made toast when I was a child. There were 7 in our household, and it was just more practical because you could make an enormous amount of toast all at once this way.

    • Sardines, eh? I've had it with tuna and salmon, but never sardines. I will try this one day and see if I like it.
