I don't care enough to vote, but I care about not caring enough to write this comment.
is this even a queston? these are both the lowest forms of music there is. so imo they both suck equally
rap can get a bit repetitive so i would pick pop because its a bit different.
What the fuck? How is rap "The most disliked" music on this site, hell for all you know, more people listen to rap on this site than they do any type of genre...
I prefer pop-rap...seriusly why choose pop and rap when you have pop-rap but its hard to find good po-rap musics
Rock.
Rap - Black guys talking about their "bitches"
Pop - Music someone else wrote lip-synced by someone popular so that people buy the music. The music becomes popular because girls are payed to scream in a video, all girls want to be popular so they pretend to like it, and guys think they can get girls if they like it.
Neither are liked for music, but rather how cool/popular the artist is for other purposes. Some rap is ok if it's not the kind about killing people they don't like or just about some "hot bitches". Some pop is ok if it's not influenced by corporate big-wigs trying to make money of their artist's popularity (if you want proof, you can see that tons of pop artists were famous for something else before they went into music). The comment about rap being poetic, my reply is: I've read the lyrics, and except for Eminem, most rappers just rap about gang activity and violence, also the aforementioned "hot bitches".
I like rock because no rock stars were famous before music, because the lyrics are written by them (sometimes they do lyrics by a fan, but not very often) they sing about girls in ways other than just sex (rap) and not only about girls/boys (pop). And because in rock, drug use isn't for gangs (rap) and isn't because of "celebrity drama" (pop). i.e. The Beatles did pills to stay awake (1962), pot because it's harmless (~1964) and LSD to write lyrics (~1966) and Ozzy does coke because he's Ozzy and does whatever the hell he wants.
Rap definitely.
^But Bugaboo had the right idea with J-pop.^
I can't say I really hate any genre of music. I love 'em all! :D
... except modern country. That shit cray.
I enjoy listening to both but I like rap more than pop at the end of the day.
Rap is one of the most hated music genres out there because people think that it's just a bunch of noise and don't bother to actually listen to the sound and poetry the rappers are speaking.

Pop is one of the most popular music genres out there because it's mainstream - music that almost everyone likes and can dance to. Yet, it can be considered as cheap because most artists, like Katy Perry, aren't exactly saying anything in their songs, like TGIF or California Gurls (yet, her songs like Firework, send out a certian message).

It's really hard to choose one, so I won't, but both are different and great in two equally distinct, awesome ways.
