Ladies, have you ever wanted to...

...shave your hair off? We're living in a world now where silly 'rules' about what males and females can/should do are being challenged. A lot of men have their hair shaved in a buzzcut. Why the heck can't women wear the same style? I mean, they can, but they sometimes get funny looks! : / I think it's very close minded. I mean more like shaved very short, rather than bald. So, have you ever wanted to or do you want to wear your hair like this too? I'm planning on getting my hair undercut (sides and back) for the summer and it got me wondering about buzzing the whole lot. I'm intrigued as to how many other ladies have had similar thoughts. Thanks!

No way! Never! 48
No but mostly because of what people would think. 8
Maybe... sort of... but couldn't/wouldn't go through with it. 23
Yeah I'd like to but couldn't/wouldn't go through with it. 29
Yes, absolutely. I'd love to and I might. 12
Yes and I did! 16
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I think it looks nice, but I wouldn't do it because I enjoy having my hair long and I don't think I'd be able to pull it off, not because of "rules".

I think it looks cool and it brings out their face.

Thanks for the replies and votes, it's really interesting to see what people's points of view are on this kind of thing.

As a guy that likes long, straight, and somewhat wavy hair I can't recommend it, but I see nothing wrong with it. If you want your hair like that it's your hair, do it. I don't think anyone would particularly care.

Oh you'd be surprised! Women are often judged for doing something so 'extreme'. Also, I like the kind of hair you describe too, but I can see how both extremes can be beautiful.

Well... I wouldn't call having long hair as an "extreme", but I do get your point. If you ask me, though I say hair is hair and shouldn't be taken so seriously over other's opinions (I'm a dude so I guess that's kind of a given). But yeah, if a girl thinks she can pull off a buzz cut she should most certainly try. It is a new trend so in a way I can see how it could be beautiful to other guys. So you got my support.

No, sorry, I just meant long and short when compared. Although I saw someone with very long hair the other day - right down their back and beyond. That was quite extreme. And you're quite right about others opinions when it's just hair! Our hair is our own. Maybe one day I will get a full buzz cut - it will grow back. : )

I remember my grandmother use to have hair that reached all the way down to her knees so yes, it's quite extreme. You should go for it though and try the full buzz cut. As you said it will grow back and you may never know, it might just be the perfect hairstyle for you. (Not saying do it based only on my opinion)

Wow surprised to see women do want to shave it but are worried about peoples opinion.

I'd like to and kind of considered it as a way of getting my hair into optimum health. It would grow back so healthy! I may do it some day but to be honest, probably in the winter so that I could have the option of wearing a hat. It's hair, it grows back. But society (most societies) make/s a big deal out of these things! Weird really.

My hair is very long, it comes past my bum and at times when I'm teasing out knots with a comb, I have this overwhelming desire to cut the lot off but I know that if I did I would most certainly cry!

I had the same thing before I took a few inches off. Super thick hair that likes to have a party when I'm not looking. I just don't think I could deal with very long hair again! Now I'm all about short, which I didn't think I'd hear myself say a couple of years ago.

I love girly girls so I'd hate to see this becoming a trend/hype/buzz.

I think women can still look girly with it. I had my sides and underneath shaved to about 1cm at the weekend and have kept longer hair elsewhere - something I'd been wanting to do for a while - and I'm seriously girly, honest! I wear loads of floral dresses! ; ) Not a full on head shave, I guess, but you get my jist. I guess girls shaving their hair in any way isn't traditionally feminine.

'buzz' ha ha.... Personally, I reckon women can still be feminine with this style - why not really? It's just because it's seen as more masculine.

No, I wouldn't. I'd be very surprised if I could pull that look off!

Funny thing about trends, though. My sister had to shave her hair off a few months ago (because she'd bleached and styled it to the point where it really needed to be shaved off), and although she wears wigs most of the time, she's since had people asking her if they can do the same with their hair! People have actually shaved their hair off! So weird. She still looks really nice with very short hair. I don't think it's a look most women can pull off, though.

Either way, not for me. I like my long hair way too much to get rid of it. I'd feel naked! If you want to try it, then you should just do what you want. Shaved hair seems to be a bit of a trendy thing with women nowadays anyway; I've seen quite a lot of people with sections of their hair shaved off (usually just at one side). I find that men and women who can pull off being bald well are usually extremely attractive, in my opinion.

      OP
Women look good with butch cuts. It goes well with long shorts and birkenstocks

Some people will follow trends. Like say if Victoria Beckham got a buzz cut, I bet more women would. Good for your sister getting rid of damaged hair instead of trying to mend it - all those miracle products don't work! : /

Yeah the shaved thing seems to be a trend. Now that I've had mine done (sides and undercut/back) I feel like a bit of a trend follower - NOT my intention, though! lol Personally, I just wanted to get it done. But then I guess I've been influenced by trends - because would I have been so aware of the style unless I'd seen it around etc. so much. Interesting!

I don't think all men should shave their hair in a buzzcut. I really dislike the buzzcut look.

I had a shaved head for years. Not like to the scalp bald, but maybe 1/4 inch or so, little shorter even. I always kept some 'fringe' or whatever ya wanna call it in the front.
