Ladies: do these stomach aches sound normal? am i alone in this?

I said ladies only because women have different abdominal organs than men do and if another women has the same issue I do its more likely to be caused by the same thing but whoever has any info feel free to comment. Anyway, I'm 19 and I've never had really stomach cramps besides when I over ate on a lot of junk food and those are sharp cramps that come and go in waves. These particular cramps I'm talking about are different. They feel like something is seriously wrong. Now I'm not sure what could have caused this, but the only thing about my life that changed at the same time as the stomach aches started occuring was I changed from the birth control shot to the pill. I've tried lots of pill brands and nomatter which I try, I get stomach aches. I'm using Ovral now and I like it even though its high dose, but I'm not sure why I have these aches. Its in the very lowest part of the abdomen, I'm guessing more or less where the uterus is located. It feels almost like menstrual cramps, and sometimes its sharp pains, sometimes a dull but burning ache. I have many tattoos, piercings, and have had several kinds of dental work done aswell as major surgery so I guess I have a high tolerance for pain and I would describe this pain as severe. When it happens, I literally need to take an anti inflammatory which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, lie on the bed and wait till it goes away. I have no other symptoms that go along with this such as nausea, chills, fever, nothing besides the crippling burning aching sensation in my lower abdomen and I have no idea what's causing it. I've tried cutting out coffee, coca cola, anything I thought might contribute to the pain but nomatter what I do, it always comes back. Sometimes it wakes me up at night and I have no idea what the hell is going on. Now before everyone tells me to go see a doctor, please know that that's just, not an option for me. I don't have the time, money or means to go and without expensive tests like ultrasounds and all that jazz that costs extra, they won't know what the exact cause is anyway. All the doctor is gonna do is prescribe me expensive pain tablets which I can't afford to keep on buying all the time anyway. All I want to know is if anyone has experienced anything like this, if they saw a doctor and what the doctor said, and what they used to help if they didn't end up seing a doctor.

It may be that you have a problem with birth control. Talk to a doctor about it. It could mean you have something wrong. Have them run tests

  • I really should have included in my post that discontinuing the pill isn't an option as I use it for medical reasons.

You could ask the men to use protection so you don't have to take those pills. Clearly you react badly to those.

  • I'm sorry I can't click reply and reply directly to you guys so I hope you see this. Stuwninnis, I probably should have mentioned in my post that I changed from the shot to the pill because I had really prolonged bleeding on the shot for the entire 2 years I was on it and the pill was the only thing that helped because it contains estrogen. Methods like the shot, the implant and Mirena IUD are progesterone only methods, which make the uterine lining atrophic (thin and prone to break open and bleed) and although some women do well on it, some have continuous bleeding like I do. I have been to a GP for birth control reasons and he explained that if I want any sort of control over when or whether I bleed or not, I need to stick to the pill and its proved effective, I even skip the placebos because I have horrible cramps and flow when I bleed whether I'm on BC or not. Also, I'm honestly not comfortable with the potential side effects of Mirena. I've heard it can imbed into your uterus or perforate it and although I know this is a rare side effect I'm not willing to risk it. Also, like I said, progesterone only methods are notorious for causing constant unpredictable spotting and that's not an option for me. Half of the reason I even use birth control is to keep my horrible periods away. I did check with a GP and apparantly you don't have a period while on BC anyway so surpressing withdrawal bleeding with pills is safe. Wistfulmaiden, thank you for your comment. I plan on going to a state hospital or clinic because they are free just to get checked out when I can find the time as its hours and hours of waiting when its free. I did go over every possible thing it could be and I have had no other symptoms of anything serious like a UTI etc, just the stomach pain. Sometimes it goes away for days and sometimes it randomly appears again. I didn't think it was the pill either but nothing else in my life style has changed besides that. Thank you for your comments.

It certainly doesn't sound normal to me you shouldn't be feeling this bad. Its probably not your bc pills causing this. Could be a lot of things, ovarian cysts, endometriosis, interstitial cystitis, an std or pelvic inflammatory disease.
Unfortunately there is nothing anybody can do for you because until you know what is the cause you cant treat it. Why not go to an emergency clinic? However much money you don't have now could end up being a lot more if you end up in the hospital with something really bad like sepsis or cancer.
A lady I worked with had symptoms like yours she kept ignoring a urinary tract infection and she ended up with sepsis(a blood infection) and she nearly died. And shes got thousands of dollars in bills now.
Just get it treated now, borrow money or go to the ER and they can bill you later. You will be sorry if you ignore this and end up really sick.

You should go to your GPS hun. I use to be on the pill but the cramping was too much for Mr which was a side affect. Because of my low iron levels I qualified to get a Mirena inserted into my uterus. The first couple of months were up and down as it does affect your hormones etc but now I forget I even have it. No longer get the pains, period only lasts a couple of days, now have contraception that lasts for five years
