I have yet to hear a woman comment either way on a man's shoes. And yet, most of the "wanna meet a girl?" advice columns always include "Wear Nice Shoes". I say it's a marketing ploy by shoe lobbyists.

No. I'm a girl, and I usually never look at a person's shoes. It's the face that decides my first impression of someone. Only later, if I am particularly interested in that specific person, I'll look at his/her shoes.

I'm not a girl, but I'd say that it does make a difference on what I think about someone.
I seem to have a fixation with what shoes people are wearing, even though I'm not someone who gives much of a shit about fashion. I don't know why. It's not sexual, unless it's a girl's shoes in which case it very well could be.
I'll check the shoes of either sex but only if their footwear catches my eye. I don't go out of my way to gaze at people's shoes. I tend to notice fashion in general. I remember going to Andy Warhol's art exhibit about two years ago when it came to my city. Towards the end there was this older guy, probably mid-twenties. I was speechless when I saw his clothes. It was a red and black pinstripe suit, with a black top hat that had some fabric around it and I think he had a mole. My memory is a bit blurry. Anyway, I couldn't help but stare. I just couldn't get over how fashionable this man was.
Well, I think it's pretty hot when guys wear combat shoes, but as far as if I care what kind of shoes he wears. No, I don't care. As long as they're not high heels or anything like that.
I never have noticed the kinds of shoes a person wears. The only thing I notice when I look at someone is their face. I don't even know the type of shoes my crush wears, so why does it matter?! The only time I notice when someone is wearing shoes is when their shoes are a variety of colors, or they're neon, or they're red/yellow/blue etc. heels.
If he's wearing Toms or socks and sandals it's an automatic no. Other than that I don't really care what shoes he's wearing.

OF COURSE we check out your shoes. Most guys wear the same exact shoes everywhere, all the time. That is boring, but not that unexpected. The most important thing is to not wear inappropriate shoes -- like wearing sneakers to a wedding or sandals at the office ... ugh! The next-most important thing we look at is whether your shoes are well cared for or scuffed and dirty. These things reflect your thinking. If you don't care enough to take proper care of your shoes, it's not a good sign. Lastly, the style of shoe you choose show something about your personality.
The only thing i spend any consideranle abput of time on when it comes to clothes shopping is my sweaters. Hell i had duck tape holding my shoes together once, wasnt to bad actually
The "wear nice shoes" advice isnt meant for the person you're trying to impress but rather yourself. When you put on some new shoes you just feel like a badass with a ton of confidence. I'm always keeping my shoes clean because It feels good.
I could care less. Don't really pay attention to thier shoes. Hell, I really do not pay attention to what they wear either.

I'm a girl and I think shoes are important. If you look at someone and they have busted open sketchers you're gonna like they're poor and don't care. But if you see a guy walking around in a new pair of Nike's or Jordan's my opinion changes about them. But that's just me .
The worst is a guy in UGGS. I don't mind women wearing them (makes me feel like a Viking conqueror), but on a dude it breaks too many protocols.
I am a dude with photographic memory... Also, whether or not I remember the shoes, I will have a good idea of what shoes someone wears by their personality. And vice verse, and with every component of their life I remember...
Not really. But if he's wearing some really ugly shoes all up in my face, I'll most likely notice. I've seen some very nice looking guys only to look down at their feet and see that he's wearing crocs or something. Like, c'mon... crocs?
My older brother is quite picky with his shoes. He cleans them almost every time he wears a pair. Even I think that's a little too much.
I look at people's shoes, but not to judge whether they're worthwhile people. I just think shoes are neat.
Shoe's are probably one of the things I rarely ever think about in life. I buy comfortable decent looking sneakers from Walmart, when they get too fucked to wear, I get new ones. Shoes are shoes to me, when people brag about having really nice sneakers or about not wanting to get their shoes dirty I'm like "Holy fuck, are you serious?" They're shoes. They're just shit you put on your feet, like who cares?
I do like shoes and I admit I have certain brands that I really like but my shoes have to be comfortable or I'll NEVER wear them. I can't stand high heels.
Also a lot lately I can care less, I've just been wearing my work clogs every where.
But I always find fashion interesting on people. I think it's fun just to sit at a big mall and watch the people go by. What I notice a lot is the bright colored shoes. I love Vans red velcro shoes; I love the classics. And I actually remember seeing a guy wearing those same velcro shoes as mine a while back (as in 4 years ago).
But shoes can make a difference but goodness why would I not date a guy for his shoes. I'll date a guy for who he is... a good man.
Well if a guy is wearing really worn out shoes that have holes in them, then yeah, of course I'm going to notice.
