Lack of faith

Is it normal to have a complete and utter lack of faith in humanity as a whole? Like I just feel as though humans are little more than animals pretending to be something greater than what we really are, we make up these pretenses of being superior to the other races around us when in reality we're just as...no more destructive and savage than any species I've heard of. Why do we build up these false walls that allow us to believe we're superior in any way?Is it fear? Hope? What?

As a child you're taught to be a productive and filanthropic member of society. Once you grow old and cut all the bullshit, you start realizing that we're just animals that make weird sounds. Once this happens, you get depressed and feel nihilistic. I guess we're wired to help each other but I really refuse to.

  • Good question. Humans are no better than animals. Our kind kills other animals for food, animal products, testing pharmaceutical drugs, other experiments etc etc. Animal shelters euthanize unwanted animals as if humans own the entire planet.
People whine and bitch about dictators, murderers etc etc forgetting that either they also indirectly support murder by buying animal products.

      • You(and I) both will need pharmaceutical drugs sometime in our lives and those pills are drenched in animal blood. The drugs are first tested on animals to test toxicity. So even if we don't eat meat or use leather we do need pills to survive the diseases. Thats is the whole problem, we can't survive without killing at least some.

I think somebody has some kind of beef with me, because my comments keep getting thumbed down. Even though nobody ever points out what I said wrong.

      • It happens to me too. People are not saints and will downvote just because they disagree with you. It doesn't matter to them whether you are right or wrong. I never pay much heed to the votes and just post what I want.

That's a good idea! I'll try not to pay such attention to them. Thanks.

I honestly think farming was a mistake. It both makes land impossible to forage from, and once you are raised farming you don't learn how to forage. There are actually 5 million hunter gatherers today, coincidentally roughly the amount there were 10,000 years ago when agriculture started supposedly.

This context makes life make a lot more sense to me, because foraging like every other species actually does make sense.

And the fact that we live in this way that is so much worse for so many reasons, also makes sense in that we have lost both the land and the knowledge to exist in a better way, where we can be truly independent.

You should have faith in God, not man.

Isn't God a imaginary friend for adults?
