Kindness of strangers

My pockets are empty. Oh no! My bus ticket fell out. But where. Shoot. Gosh darn it. Fuck!

And then some lady came up to me and handed me my bus ticket. She found it on the ground and thought it might me mine as I was frantically searching everything on my person.

Thank you nice lady. I appreciate your kindness.

Is it normal? (Just because that needs to be asked.)

Anybody have a nice story of a stranger doing something nice for them?

One day getting ready for work I realized my wallet was missing. It had my license, debit card, about $70 in it, even an unused gift card. I kept searching at home and since there are always just a few places I will put certain things coughlikethefloorcough, it took only a minute for me to realize I had lost it. I left home and to my car to leave for work as I was getting late. And there it was, on my windshield, loosely wrapped in a paper with my name written on the inside. I must have dropped it while walking home from my parked car the night before. I was shocked. All money intact. Nothing missing. Not only was I surprised that this person creepily knew the car I drove (must have seen me cause nothing in my wallet connects me to my car) but it bugged me immensely that I couldn't thank them. You just don't come across people like this anymore who can resist getting swayed by free $$. Who was this mysterious do-gooder? They dare hide their identity from moi?

Whereever you are, real life anonymous stranger. You can't hide forever. Cheesy movie plots prove that we are destined to meet, and the day we do, I WILL rape you... with gratitude.

I have one that my sister told me. She lost her wallet at Walmart and a four year old child returned it to her. She told me that he looked inside the wallet, read her ID, and looked for her all over the store to return it. She wanted to buy him a drink or something to pay him back, but he declined the reward. It warmed my heart to hear that story. That child is more honest than most of the adults my sister and I have run into. Those kids parents are definitely raising him right. :)

I know his parents. So if you wanna give me a few bucks I'll make sure they get it.
      :)

I lost my wallet not far from where I work with about $450 cash as well as credit cards, drivers licence, library ID etc etc in it.

Someone picked it up and contacted me. I was so grateful that I wanted to give him a cash reward but he wouldn't accept anything.

So instead I bought him a couple of bottles of good red wine and dropped them into his work place a week later.

Once my van had a puncture in the middle of nowhere during wintry night. A big lorry came
And stopped by me asked me the problem and phoned the AA from the next village as there
Were no mobile phone's in those years. He came back to tell me the help is on the way.

Once, I had to stop at the bank and use the ATM to get cash, but it wasn't one of those drive up ATMs. I remember I was in a hurry and being the idiot I am somehow managed to forget my debit card in the ATM. The next person could've gotten into my account, took all the money I had in my account, and created all kinds of problems.

Just as I was about to drive off, someone knocks on my window and hands me my card. I guess he was the "next person" and seen me use it. It was nice of him and I thanked him, but all I could do after that is shake my head and think about how fucking stupid I was!

I went in the store at a gas station and the guy in front of me was getting a bunch of lottery tickets. He started telling me that he kept seeing this number so he figured he'd give it a whirl. I mentioned a number that I always saw, so he got a few tickets with that number then gave me one of each. Didn't win but that was nice.

A few times I've told someone as they were walking away from a self checkout that they left their money behind, but this isn't about me.

Whenever we go adventuring on an island, the kindness of strangers always makes the day more pleasant. Riding the bus, the locals will point out places of interest on the way. They guide us to the proper bus to get back to the marina, suggest great local eating places and some even try to brighten our day, offering to share their ganja (whatever that is?) with us. Many will not only give us directions, but stop whatever they are doing and lead us to the place we are seeking.
I think the farther one gets from "civilization" the more "civil" people are.
