Ask most people, they'll tell you they're just doing their own thing. They will vehemitely deny trying to keep up with Joneses by buying useless crap because their neighbors has it, or competing by getting said crap before Mr. Jones does. " I'm insulted that you are inferring that we're just sheep following the herd. The nerve of this idiot.". Guess what that is the normal response of said guilty sheep. And a mindless idiot in my book. Who needs brand new cars, 10,000 sq. Ft. House, dinner parties, suits, newest i-phones, theatre sized quantum particle TV's, overpriced high heels and afro jumping Nike's, etc. Etc. Notice I said house not a home because the smith's are never home. They're always working to pay for said crap while the kids are gone getting thoroughly brainwashed to perpetuate the same behavior. These hollow heads laugh down at the so called " less fortunate folk", but we laugh at you.

Apart from the options, which didn't cover my situation so I couldn't respond, this was a serious worthwhile question and I can't see any intelligent respectful answers, so here is one:

I haven't tried to keep up with anyone else for as long as I can remember and even when I was earning good money that was the case. Now that I'm fairly poor I don't have a choice, but I wouldn't do it anyway because I hate waste.
