Ive always thought..

...do to others what you would have done by you...
people who commit heinous crimes eg; child molesting, rapists, serial killers etc ...
would you agree that prison and death row seems too easy a punishment for these people - especially the repeat offenders?
or would you think it would be appropriate for the government to bring in harsher punishment with whatever crime you commit to hurt others - your punishment should be having the same thing done to you, but worse?
eg; a rapist spends the rest of his life in his jail cell getting raped all day - day in - day out - until death row?
these people just sicken me and to think they get off so easy...ive just always wondered this...

I think that's fine. When you said child molester I was thinking that you meant their child would be molested. As long as it's only them and not their family taking the punishment, that's fine.

  • If the rapists raped each other, they would get some satisfaction, even if they were to be punished in the same way. This presents a problem, in that no one would want to rape anyone save the rapists, who are supposed to be punished. This also brings upon them a possible backlash, where the public would say, "He raped another man, so he deserves another punishment!" All in all, this is a very intruiging question...

Death does seem way too easy. However, to keep all prisoners in prison with no death and no parole would cost taxpayers billions more. Good Americans should not have to pay for the punishment of criminals. It is dilemmas like this that make me think that corporal punishment may not be such a bad idea- Its cheaper and it provides a deterrent against crime.

I thought this way too. But what about the poor guy that rapes the rapist? How do we decide who has to be the punisher? I know I wouldn't want the job.
