I dated someone online when I was 15...It wasn't too weird.
and guess what we are still together, In real life :)
I love him so much.
you are 17 ? this site is for 18 years ? -_- i cant believe those people... just kidding me tooo XD;P
Yes seriously ! you poeple do not read the rules it says 18 and up ! you do not even try to hide the fact that you lied to get into the website ! 18 and down are not even suppose to be here .
I suppose it's normal, but be careful.
If you do met them, insist that you meet in a well-populated area. Tell someone where you are going. Don't be with them in a secluded place until you've gotten to know them allot more, etc. Also, training in self-defense beforehand may provide an edge in case you find yourself in a dangerous situation.
I've never known anyone to try a dating website that young. If you do plan on using one, which I discourage, make sure that you're extremely safe. I mean, extremely!
I read an article from an investigative journalist who created a handful of fake profiles (both male and female, of different ages) to compare the responses. All I can say is, be very careful. While one persona made it clear she was looking for a boyfriend, for love, and a commitment, she got countless offers from men who offered to pay her for sex. Somehow the idea of "girlfriend" was lost in translation and seemingly became "prostitute".
May i suggest that _IF_ you go on a dating website, you lie about your age? Make yourself 22.
If they are fine, you can still tell them you are 17 and you lied out of safety reasons. But being that young and there, you will get swamped...and not the pleasant kind of getting swamped.
A friend of mine tried the same around your age and she got 400 messages in the first few days...among them almost 100 she reported to the management, and i do not want to go into detail about their contents.
In the end, only a handful were reasonable.
Now, the business has changed a quite a bit again since then, but still, better be on the safe side. But ultimately, there's no reason why you shouldn't meet someone online instead of at a party, bar, or school/work.
I wanted to share this with you, I just finished watching it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5i0zvVzUk4
All I am saying is that you do need to be super careful, and you are really young.
I met my gf online
(she will come and see me in a few weeks/1 month)
Just be careful when you meet people that you first met online, always take into consideration that they might not be who they say they are.
