It takes me a few hours to fall asleep

I usually go to bed at about 10:00 or 10:30, and I can't seem to fall asleep before 12:30. So, roughly, it takes me two or three hours to fall asleep, and I'm always tired during the day.

I read somewhere that it should normally take 25 minutes or less to fall asleep.

Is it insomnia or is it normal?

I have the same problem. When I go to bed my head is full of shit, i toss and turn and feel uncompfortable. I can't get my mind off of things so I take about 3 hours to fall asleep.
I heard that the sleep before midnight is the most healthy, but i nearly never get any.
Because if I go to bed to early, like 9 or 10 o'clock, then I lay around for hours and around 12 o'clock I get really energetic and so bored from trying to sleep that I turn on my computer and do usless stuff in the internet, like right now.

What I found helps: sports, but no sports, food or even sugary drinks after 6pm!

    • I've seen it- and yes, I do sound like a textbook case. Wouldn't want to go self-diagnosing though, but thank you :)

If you consume caffeinated products, such as coke or coffee, late in the day.. It could make falling asleep more difficult. This also goes with sugary drinks, or foods that contain a lot of sugar or caffeine, such as chocolate.

If you take certain prescription medications, this could also be a contributing factor.

Other reasons could be anxiety or worries, or a lack of proper/daily exercise which can leave you restless and irritable.

You may also want to avoid watching TV or using the internet a few hours before going to sleep. This can leave you feeling restless, making it harder to fall asleep.

If all else fails, try an over-the-counter sleep aid, or see a doctor to help you figure out the underlying cause.

what time do you get up? maybe your bedtime is too early.

there are many things to do before bedtime to start relaxing. i know i can't sleep if i've been working and get home late, i need time to unwind.
