It is normal that my dyed hair has gone wrong

basically, i have dyed my hair loads of times but i really wanted to go red. before i died my hair it was a light copper brown, kinda boring.. so i decided to buy myself the colour hot cinnamon from the range live colour xxl. i was super excited from looking at the package the colour looks amazing and really red.
however when i died my hair the results were nothing like what was on the box. im so dissapointed, the colour now is a dark browny colour and in the sun its a cherry red, which i hate!!! and to top it off i have really pale skin so i looked even more washed out then i did before.. has any one else had this problem and has anyone used this product and what were your results? please comment xxxxx

Packaging will always over-exaggurate what the product will look like. Always use the net for opinions before buying anything cosmetic (or anything at all, really), because nothing will ever look as good as the picture on the outside.

Do you not read the packaging?
There's a list of what it should look like on top of what hair colour.
Of course if your hair is a dark colour, the red's going to be dark. It doesn't do the lightening for you!

I dyed my hair Ginger, then decided to go red, that exact red. It was as vibrant as a traffic light. Best thing EVER.

This is why you are suppose to bleach your hair if you want lighter colours. I have uses red before and it seems to work really well on all hair. However it really depends on the dye you buy. Try using Manic panic.

Being respectable - You should NEVER buy box color hair dyes. Especially with reds! The thing with those is they put the highest amount of peroxide in there (40vol) you probably only needed a 20vol, MAYBE even a 10vol!

Always go to a stylist to dye your hair! I know it's not cheap and it takes up a lot more time but your hair and skin will thank you! You'll even thank yourself!

I just got my hair dyed red and it looks amazing. I'm really pale and had dyed blonde hair before, but even the blonde washed me out. My natural hair color washes me out even more, it's a dark inky black. But, I got the ion dye called dark cooper blonde and it suits me perfectly! I'm so excited and happy I did that! All I can say is that in my experiences, that darker hair is harder to dye. It takes a few times to get it light enough. Try lightening it some and then doing a deposit-only hair color.

reds are always stubborn & usually tricky to work with. but in general red over brown will usually come out as more of a tint than a shade, like what you got.
