It is normal for everyone to treat me like crap

I just started a new job after five months of unemployment. It was a hard adjustment for the other workers it seems and they made it hard for me. I had at least five people including the boss call me names treat me horribly and verbally abuse me. I was in shock. I never had this happen. I am not ugly but not Megan fox I'm smart funny and a hard worker...I am shy to some extent though. Now I quit and realized most people treat me like crap. My parents always did and some friends either use me or make fun of me...is there something wrong with me...too nice not hot enough...any thoughts?

Do not listen to any of the above comments. What you're describing is work place bullying and verbal abuse. You need to leave immediately. People who suffer from this often get anxiety and depression. Work somewhere else and know that this situation isn't your fault. Many people go insane trying to figure out what they did to inflict this on themselves. Please know you did nothing to deserve that treatment from your co-workers.

These people are most likely picking on you because you're young or they need someone to be at the low rung of the social ladder. They're opportunistic. If you don't see the need to leave yet, know that your situation at work is highly unlikely to change if you stay. Google more on work 'place bullying' and 'verbal abuse', there are personality dynamics that are largely involved. I mention this because you say that many people tend to treat you "like crap".

If you stay, record, record, record these scenarios!!!
However, I hope you get the courage to find a new job, it's easier said than done though. I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for your comment. I did leave and now have a new job, where everyone is a lot nicer and less critical. I believe that you are right, that they treated me this way because I was the low man on the totem pole. I appreciate your "normal" response and thanks.
